Well this may be a stupid question. I've destroyed my lower bumper ( it was plastic). Bent my left tierod. Have white marks all over the sides of my X, trees are not always nice (Any recommendations on a polisher?). I constantly have to re-bend my door rails back into shape. and I've bent my front bumper mounts (I bombed off of a 3' levee ... I couldn't see it I was rambling through 5' tall river grass or whatever it was. And to top it all off I've had her maybe a month, and it's my daily driver.

But fuck it has been fun month.

I have custom pin stripes from trees on my black X too. Maguires Scratch X works pretty good for getting rid of the smaller scratches. Does a good job at reducing the bigger ones.

I have also screwed up the plastic bumper. I partially tore off one of the plastic pieces under the fog light after kissing a rock. It's only plastic and it snaps back into place. I figure it's a good excuse to get a Calmini or if the rumors are true, a re-designed ARB for the 2003.

Have not broken anything major (knock on wood). My Dad says I'm crazy for treating a new car like this (only 3 months old here). I use mine as a daily driver also.

Learn where to drive! You shouldn't be driving through "river grass" in the first place!

You can't be any more hard on your truck than I am. 1 week after we bought ours I bent the step rails so bad that they HAD to come off because they were rubbing against the back tires. The wife was in tears saying "we haven't even made a payment on it yet and you're tearing it up". Anyways my list of injuries to the truck include bent stock bumper.

Broken tie rod.

And bent front crossmember to include Calmini skid plate.

There are others but these are just some of the highlights so don't worry about being too hard on you truck. You can always fix it. cool

Yeah, I think you guys ar a bit too hard on your trucks, but hey to each their own. I tore my bumper, replaced it with an ARB, bent a step rail, replaced them with Calmini skids. But a broken tie rod and a skid plate that bent up, C'mon man look where you are going. This isn't a piece of shit 20 year old dodge. [Freak]

I do recommend replacing the weak points with aftermarket tuff stuff, but really now, it isn't a tank, you can't just blast willie nillie through tall grass bashing into stuff.

just my .02

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm learning where to drive pretty quickly. My damage is all fixable, so I'm not totally bummed out. i'll be adding a new skid plate soon, along with a grill guard. and calamini's thick tie rods.

Regards,
phuzzy3d

I forgot another good one. The torn off splash guard. If you look close enough too you can see the dent in the very front of the rocker panel. Thats the one that convinced the wife we need sliderz. laugh

I do have to admit though that Logan does have me beat.

Some of his body damage would make you say 'ouch', but I'd like to see pics of the underside of that Frontier!

That's a pretty long list after only a few months on a 2003
But fuck it has been fun month.

Steve, did you bend your crossmember also? If you need to I can tell you how to make a new one.

I twisted the front edge a little, and the Calmini brackets, but nothing nearly as bad as yours. The top of my crossmember where the diff attaches still looks square to the frame. I'm glad to see you got yours fixed. It may be worthwhile to describe what was done to your truck for any future problems.

It would be easier to see the underside of his (ex)Xterra when it was on it's roof. Now where did that picture go...

Strange thing, from what I hear, is that he was parked/stopped at the time it slid and rolled.

I've been to Hollister and the Kings River down by Hanford, CA. It's a dry river bed.
