Any suggestions on pros/cons of roof rack or hitch rack for road bikes? Leaning toward roof but appreciate some feedback, especially on the height. Thanks

Yeah, height is the biggest drawback. Besides putting it up there, forget it's up there and try to pull into your garage...

Hitch mounts on the other hand, are easier to put the bike on and there's no risk of hitting things with them. Just be sure they are locked well (actually true for either type of mounts) AND they are tied down well too (to keep them from swinging).

I hated roof racks. After a long ride putting them up there. I have a swaggman hitch rack and i love it.

Here is a link from where I got mine. I have the four bike. Set it in the rack. Pull down the latch cradle and strap the tires and you are off.

Went with a Saris 5 bike rack. It can tilt down to open the back easily (even with bikes on it). Couple of cable locks secure everything and deter people walking off with the bikes.

Can't whine about this either!

I made a rack from an old bed frame and a pair of fork mounts. It's made 3 trips from pa to outer bank sc and numerous day trips with our diamond backs without any problem. I can dig up some pics if your interested
