Whew. I'm sort of glad that I went perch fishing with my brother during the time when Arizona and KU were playing or I might've developed an ulcer. Even though I didn't make the same changes in this pool as I did in the others and still had Kentucky winning it all, their loss to Marquette didn't hurt very much because all of my closest competitors also had Kentucky winning everything, except for one person. Ironically, that guy has Syracuse going all the way, which poses a dilemma since I would love to see SU win the whole thing, but for the purposes of the pool ($$$), I kinda hope they don't. One step at a time, though. If SU doesn't beat Oklahoma, it's all moot since almost everyone besides myself and this other guy has Oklahoma reaching the Final 4 and not Syracuse.

Go Oklahoma! Go Texas (omg, did I just say that?) I would love to see three Big XII teams in the Final Four to try and prove to everyone that it is the toughest and best conference in the nation. Maybe they'll learn to take 7 next time since my Red Raiders are rolling through the NIT.

Marquette ---------->Kansas Kansas
------------------->Kansas
Syracuse ---------->Texas Texas
At this point Kansas is looking a whole lot better. We survived the bracket of death, we're healthy and we beat Texas in the regular season. I just hope they don't underestimate Marquette and fuck up. Last night Lawrence was crazy. This is the fifth final four I've been here for and each time gets a little wilder than the last. The cops were really cool I talked to one and they were under orders to pick up the pieces if someone got injured and prevent property damage, but otherwise just let people enjoy themselves.

Well, it's pretty easy to figure out in the pool now. If Texas beats SU, I win. If SU wins, I come in 2nd and can't finish any lower, regardless of what happens in the Championship game. Since I will easily make back the entry fee if I come in 2nd, to heck with my picks - I want Syracuse to win it all!

Texas couldn't handle Syracuse, so I guess it's left up to us. Marquette never knew what hit them. 18-4 run at the end of the first half and 18-4 to start the second. The game was over on the second basket of the the second half, after that it was just trading points. The bar I watch Jayhawk games had people lining up outside at noon for a 3pm open and a line until close at 2am. The local cops went by all the bars to ask them to serve everything in plastic cups for the night because they weren't going to worry about open containers and didn't want projectiles out on the streets.

Yes, I agree totally. I really hope it is Roy Williams though. For some reason I just like him more, maybe because his name is easier to spell than what's his name.

This ran in Friday's paper and provided inspiration to the team. From the number of times I got it emailed to me, I guess most of town saw it between Friday and today. The is Capt. Brad Loudon with the 2nd Battalion, 70th Armored Regiment from Fort Riley.

THE CUSE!!!!
We have been waiting a long time for this. Nobody thought we could do it. It was a great game.
I honestly feel bad for Kansas. They are a stand up team with great players, but it was our time.
Go Cuse!!

I think I bit off all my fingernails. All I could think of when Warrick missed the free throws was Derrick Coleman in '87, but then he comes flying across the baseline to swat away the 3-pointer near the end. Woo-hoo! Now, I get to count how many people accuse me of being a fair weather fan as I wear my Syracuse jersey that I've had and worn for the past 10+ years. Hehe.
Have to say, though, that the highlight of the night for me was watching Roy Williams's postgame lockerroom interview with Bonnie Bernstein. He showed great poise with his answer to her question about the coaching job at NC, giving her the benefit of the doubt by saying he understood it was her job as a journalist to ask such a question. But, she followed it up with another one about the job, so he gave her (and her producer) a back-handed verbal slam. Unfortunately, the phrasing of his last words could be taken out of context - "I could give a sh*t about North Carolina right now..." - but, I'm glad he said what he did.
