My first car was a 1984 Corolla SR5 GT, didn't know what I had until after I wrecked it. After the wrecked I picked up a 1992 4 door Civic. After selling the Civic, I joined the Nissan family and purchased a 2002 Spec V.

I am really surprised at how many people were into the import/domestic scene before the Xterra. I traded in my '99 Cougar for the X.

1999 Mitsu GST Spyder 1992 Honda CBR600 F2 (not street legal, but plated) 1975 Honda CB750F Cafe Racer (OG factory works bike) 1986 Audi 5000Q Wagon (great bike race SAG wagon) 1967 Fastback 1974 Dodge Ramcharger (been in the family since '77. Could 2'nd gear chirp my 33's, but damn, it broke down a lot. I really miss that one; wish I never had to sell it for tuition.)
Wouldn't trade the X for any of 'em.

Kelli,
I am not worried about the Kia Rio, those things are awesome in gas mileage. What I am worried about and may even laugh at is that black CR-V parked next to your Rio. Please tell me it ain't yours....

'71 Chevy Malibu - beautiful but winters and salt did it in '74 Renault R12 with four dead shocks and bad brakes...but someone gave me $40 for it. '90 Mazda 323..had this cheap little rocket for eight years and drove the crap out of it. Miss it the most. '88 Ford Bronco 4x4 loads of fun '90 Mitshubishi Montero..had 75,000 on it when i got it, put another 80,000 myself. '93 Mitshubishi Montero..never had it long..bad engine first..got it fixed..then it died in a flood. Edit: Oops forgot the 1993 Jeep Laredo..had it just a little bit..traded it in for the 2001 X. 2001 Xterra....best truck I ever owned...the day i traded it in for the 2005 X, it still drove solid as a rock. You all should be glad you don't own one of these.....I don't own it...but I wouldn't admit it if I did, either.

1994 Pontiac Bonneville. Hand me down from my older brother. Not a bad car at all, it had some juice. Had it through high school. Mine was black though.

Saturn 2002 VUE V6 AWD, Auto. Many problems, wanted an X back then but the new-at-the-time VUE made more sense for the new longer commute I got by moving.
Drove like a car, better quickness than you would think, but many problems - detailed:
-Right off the bat - rear washer not working, bad map light (no big deal, yet) -Wind deflectors peeling off (common among all makes, to some extent) -Tech lost two lug nut caps and didn't realize until I got home (service issue) End of 1st year, no big deal...
-Thermostat replaced under warranty from "SES" light -Major oil leak involving front valve cover was loose (nice acrid oil smell after repair and pressure wash) -Front washer not working, replaced new washer nozzles (not good in the middle of a Northeastern winter) -Frozen throttle plate (twice), have to stop and restart engine to clear, no fix according to tech -Retape wind deflectors (again) -Dome lights don't flas and daytime running lights are out, major investigation to find and fix "resistor" failure Two years down, not really happy at this point...
-2nd Major oil leaks 11 months after first (led me to call Saturn HQ to demand and get an extended warranty) -Clunking noise during turns: 1. Loose stabilizer links 2. Right strut mount, (both replaced) -Crankcase hose replaced (overnight wait) -Rear lateral link replaced (believed that was a recall) -Hood wind deflector loose again, this time they don't have any tape, fix myself Right around three years, reliabilty is not a word used at this point...
-Fun one: horn gets stuck on, remove fuse before going to dealer. They had to replace whole steering wheel airbag/horn assembly (fortunately warranty covers it) -Squeaking steering, this time they just have to grease up column -Fails state inspection, tie rod/steering rack replaced (again under warranty)
End of saga, X will be in my driveway tomorrow...
