Any of you geeks out there play OGame? I just got involved this week and have been seriously sucked in. Of course the fact that XOC was offline also helped the new addiction. My small fleet is currently farming a nearby inactive planet

I saw my little cousin playing this. They are here visiting from Austria, and he begged to use my internet. The name Ogame sounds familiar.....not sure though. I'll check it out.

For a text based online strategy game it's actually pretty addictive. I joined an alliance with a few guys at work. I understand why he wants to play, if he's on vacation he is probably worried about his fleet.

I'm in Universe 1 Galaxy 1. Already a member of an existing alliance. 'Bleeding' we'er quite a friendly alliance, not at war with anyone. If XOC gets a few members then I'd deffinately join, or see if our alliances can form an agreement not to attack eachother etc. What universe are you in?

If you guys are working on creating an XOC alliance you all gotta be in the same universe. Otherwise you can't help eachother out. Different universes are like whole different games. You can't fly from 1 Universe to another, only between Galaxys in the same Universe.

Just had my first couple of battles in Universe1. Won 1 and drew another. Good tip - Build espionage probes as soon as you can and probe any planets near you that are inactive. They list with an (i) on the galaxy map. There is one near me that used to be a top player, until someone wiped him out. But he still has his mines cranking out some serious resources, so I send my cargo ships back and forward to rape his planet

Logged in to find that some bastard attacked my weak ass, overnight and raped my supplies.

Damn that sucks. I think I might have to fire up a player in Uni 8 and join you guys. Then I really will be playing every waking moment! lol. I already have 2 planets in Uni 1 after only playing for 1 week. The nice members of the alliance I joined sent me a bunch of resources.

startup advice wherever you are, go with the ogame forum,
build order similar to

basically get metal up to about level 5 with enough power before building anything else, then go for crystal. continue with a gap of about 4 until level 14 metal - 12 crystal, then build a few duet mines.
eventually you start your reseach which you can see how to get what ships/buildings by viewing the technology tag on the side

Yeaa, gotta almost plan on 1 level of power for each level of mines. On my planet in Uni 1 I have:

Level 15 Metal
Level 12 Crystal
Level 13 Deut
Level 16 Solar

Plus I have a couple of solar satelites up and a level 3 Fusion plant and I'm still in the negative on energy. -189/1.712

Cost to upgrade the solar plant to level 17 - Requires: Metal:49.263 Crystal:19.705. Yeoouch.

Best investment ever... robot factory. Cut build times in half.

I'm on my second day - so not available to help defend against an attack. Will be building a robot factory in the next few minutes.

To start building a defence you need a Shipyard and Research Lab. Robotic factory just helps you build the buildings quicker.

Looks like we have a good number of people in Galaxy2. A number of folks in Universe1 that I play with also have games running in Uni8. They are gonna ship me some supplies

Just logged in, and he hit me again....bastage only brought his cargo ship this time.....jsut got first laser built....need more metal for missle launcher......

i just got atacked, i had 2 ML and 2 small lasers... the guy walked right on through.... so i not only lost resources to the attack but i lost all the resources i had spent on the defense(not totaly i guess, it said they could be repaired)

Probably some 13 year old acne covered, snaggletoothed punk, and he is chuckling about his easy victory ....

the upside i burned all myu resources on the defense... so he only got like 300 metal and 50 crystal... i saw him coming at had 30 minutes to build stuff.

That's the problem with Uni8. It's so new that everyone playing in that Uni has to attack eachother right off the bat to get resources for themselves.

He was harvesting his own resources at the same time. I've not checked out the people in my solar system yet, don't want to waste the deuterium. I think it costs like 10 to see the Galaxy view.

I'm probably the worst target in my galaxy right now. <100 units of anything I've been a building fool! Level 9 solar to 10 solar takes 48 minutes even with robotics... that sucks.

i went fusion this morning. solar gets really expensive... but fusion uses deut.

Wish i could raid, but im not comfortable raiding blind.

and espionage is a ways off for me... im gonna build more mines and build up a nasty fleet i think

Ships are good because they will also defend your planet if they are hanging around. Good idea to get some missile launchers or some kind of defence tho just to put off those weak attackers.

Upgrading the Robotic Factory next, then the Shipyard will be fired up.

Something good to know. The position of your planet affects how much energy your Solar Plant produces. #1 being closest to the sun, #12 being furthest away. My planet is smack bang in the middle at #6.

Once you start taking on other people you'll have plenty of resources to spend

If you click on galaxy you see the other people. What does it mean when there is a time next to their name, under the action column?

Second question: I built a missle launcher, do I have to do anything with it or is it going to work itself for defense?

The time next to someones name means that was the last time there was activity on that planet. Either by someone attacking them, or by them logging in and doing stuff themselves.

You should really look out for people with an 'i' (Inactive for 2 weeks) or 'I' (Inactive for 4 weeks). If their mines are setup and cranking out resources and they have little / no defence. Those are the people to raid. They won't fight back!

Missile Launchers just do their own thing once they are built. If someone attacks your planet all forms of defence can be destroyed (If the atacker is strong enough), missile launchers, lasers etc. Your mines and buildings however remain intact.

What do I need to have fusion as an option? According to "Research - Energy Technology" it says I need Research Lab (Level 1) -- which I already have. I do not see any other energy options on my screen other than solar.

Thanks for your help (again). I'd rather find out from all of you before I waste supplies trying to figure it out.

Fusion plant requires:

Deuterium Synthesizer(level 5)
Energy Technology(level 3)

You can find our what research / building level you need to build stuff in the 'Technology' section.

Fusion is good, but it does use up valuable deut.

Got my cherry popped today. Someone raided my little ole planet while I was sleeping. They just came over with 1 Small Cargo ship so they didn't snag too much but that doesn't mean I won't have a cap for their ass if they come back!

We're a long way from having deathstars I'm affraid. A guy in my Uni1 Alliance has 3 of them! 200 Battleships can take one out tho.

Death Star = 5,000,000 Metal, 4,000,000 Crystal and 1,000,000 Deuterium. Plus to get Gravitron Tech to build one in the first place you need 3,000,000 in Energy. The only way to do that is to build about 8600 Solar Satelites. Not easy.

wow - I screwed up. I have a sm cargo ship. How do I pick things up from another planet? Todrick gave me some data on another planet. I sent my cargo ship to that planet, thinking it would pick up, but it didn't. Evidently I delivered cargo (didn't actually deliver anything).

When you sent your Transports Doug. Make sure you send them on an 'Attacking' mission. Then don't load them with any resources. That'll make sure you don't send any of your stuff out there and that your ships come back with stuff for you.

I built 2 light fighters and 2 missile launchers now. So that fucker with the 1 cargo & 1 light fighter better not try anything again! lol. Gotta save to upgrade my solar plant so I Can level up my mines.

I am building a second s cargo ship as I type. Then I will go back and see what I can pick up. Hopefully my fleet makes it back before I have to go to bed because I am out of town for the rest of the week.

Well its official I am now completly obsessed with this game. I am currently playing in universes 1 and 8. Already raiding in 1 and been raided in 8.

yup... im hooked nwo that i can raid... this is fun... especialy once you get a handle of the "waves" rules

you can hit a poor bastard 9 times in one day without being considered "bashing" as long as you do it in waves...(3 attacks in less than 30 minutes, is one "wave")

it also helps that i now have 3 s cargo... waiting ont hem toreturn so i can build up my fleet... i would like to send 3 cargos and 5 LF's per raid... but that would mean a lot of resources that i could put into other things... im torn.

try looking for planets with an i or I. Those players have been inactive for a while and the planets generally have lots of resources and no defense

I don't quite get the energy #'s. Is it a bad thing if the first # is red? I'm not doing any harm, right? Its just telling me I don't have enough energy to go 100 for any given field?

yes it's bad. you need to keep your power levels up or it will slow/stop your production.

start fleetsaving and spend your resources if you keep your resources low it isn't worth the time to raid you.

so as long as the sum energy # is in the green I'm ok? like at 2 right now w/ my resources divied out.

true but if you break up your fleet, you can max each SC at each location...

I am currently milking a good sized metal deposited planet in universe 1. We should start a second alliance of XOC in one it has a decent amount of free resources for the taking.

A colony ship costs:

Metal:10.000 Crystal:20.000 Deuterium:10.000

And when it gets to the planet you send it to it's gone. The ship itself becomes the colony on the planet so you don't get to use it again.

I've got 4 panets in Uni1. Working on a 5th soon right next to my planet in Gal 8. The other 4 are spread out in different Galaxys 1, 4 and 5. Once you get a fleet of ships together, it's a good idea to 'Fleet Save' which means while you are away from the computer, send them somewhere until around the time you get back. Then nobody can wipe out your fleet while you are away.

you type the number you want in the box to the right of the ship information and click "send" that starts the ship building cue.

make sure you select the right universe when logging in

I am it keeps telling me either two reasons my ip has changed or I have logged in multiple times to the same account. Dunno going to let it set and see.

yeah defenses do their own thing...

as for how often they are destroyed... depends on the attack... check the official ogame forums theyhave all the mathmatical formulas

With regards to how long your missle launcher will last. An attacking fleet can only wipe out 30% of your defence in 1 wave. Not sure how the game figures that out if you only have 1 of something and lost 30% of it! lol. The other 70% of your defences are considered 'Repaired'.

Here's a good tip too.

I launched my fleet earlier, a whole 2 light fighters and 2 small cargo ships to a planet that had 1 small fligher and 1 missile launcher. Running a speedsim I was 98% sure to win. 5 mins before the fleet arrived at the guys planet I sent out another probe to see what was going on. The guy had built 2 small lasers while my fleet were on route. So I recalled them in the fleet screen. His 2 small lasers, 1 light fighter and 1 missle launcher would have taken me for sure.

If you can, always send a probe a few minutes before your fleet arrive, just to make sure nothing has changed in the hour or 2 that your fleet are traveling to the destination.

look closer then in uni 1 I raid consistenly in two hours or less

it takes 1.5 hours to raid 2 planets away

it takes 2 hours to raid 1 solar system away....

but for some strange reason i can raid a galaxy away in 2.5 hours, but it takes me 4-6 to raid a hundred solar systems away...

the only good resources i have found are at least 100 solar systems away

now just nbeed the resources to build it.

Todrick, every upgrade you do to Combustion engines makes your ships fly 10% faster. At level 8 like I am now in Uni1, you can reach planets in your solar system in about 53 minutes.

makes sense.. think im at level 3... been focusing on the impulse engines for the colony ship...

onc ei colonize it will be time to hunker down and upgrade

Ive applied to Xoc alliance. I am currently wreaking havoc in my little universe section. here is where I am at: 3:133:11 I have won all 4 battles so far and have gotten quite a bit of booty from my nieghbors.

I find that if you are doing well but power is negative, reduce some of your factories a percentage until you get into positive energy.

I have deuterium going at 30% right now because I have a decent amount of it.

When you send a fleet I see PLANET, MOON, and DF. What does DF mean? Defend?

DF means Debris Field. If you see a 'T' next to a planet in the Galaxy view then it means there is Debris there. Hover your mouse over the T and it will say how much, you'll see 2 numbers. The first number is Metal, the 2nd is Crystal i.e. 10,300:21,000 would mean there is 10,300 metal and 21,000 crystal floating out there.

You can send recyclers to Debris Fields once you get them. A debris field is created when someone attacks a planet and the defence on that planet destroys some of the fleet.

So basically, if you have a big ass fleet and are attacking a well defended planet, there are going to be some losses. So you send your recyclers to arrive a few mins after your fleet to the DF to clean up and recover some of your lost resources.

Just won my first battle with my 10 light, 2 heavy fighters and 5 cargo ships. I'll be catching up you guys in no time! Captured about 30,000 in resources.

I broke the top 700 players last night. Scary part is I haven't been doing much scouting and I've been sending alliance members resources.

I'm catching up with you guys! Just sent a colony ship out to a rather empty Gal 4. Going to build a strong base out there.

Sending you a small care package too to get you started. 5000 metal, 5000 crystal and 4900 Deut. That should last you a while. Concentrate on building up your own mines tho. something like:

Solar, metal, metal, solar, metal, metal, solar, metal, crystal, solar, metal, crystal.

Always seems to work well for me. After which you can concentrate on whatever you are short of.

1659 points in universe 6. We have a small two-man over here if you want to start a second game. I have been playing both and its pretty fun.

I already play in Uni1 and Uni8. Uni 6 too would be way to much to keep track of! lol.

I did have 11,000 points in Uni 1, until I got banned by the Nazi GO. Had to start again, but already up to 1,000 in about 7 days with the new account.

How'd you get banned?

Anyone else still playing in uni 8?
