I'm having trouble installing a wireless router, and setting up ethernet between my pc, and the girls new iMac. (It's actually an older iMac..) I have the router properly installed and my pc is functioning normally, hers however will not go to any online sites. confused It was an office used pc and still appears to have many of their applications onboard. How are those previously, now useless, programs most easily removed? Lastly, how do I get the iMac online?

Dan,

I had to speak to my router customer service to get my iBook installed. The router was PC friendly, but I am very happy now with the wireless system...

Good luck.

Drag the applications you don't want to the trash. That's it.

What kind of iMac is it? Fruity colored? Hair Dryer like? All-in-one flat panel?

What OS is it running? Under the Apple menu pick "About this Mac". Is it running OSX? If so, what version? (all three numbers)

Click on the More Info button if it's OS X and the Apple System Profiler will launch. Under the Network section, do you see an Airport card listed? Click on it and make sure you see some stats for the card to verify it actually has a wireless networking card.

If it does, then use this technote and look under the AirPort client to third-party base station section to connect to your existing wireless network.
