Lets think about this...
These guys apparently make a living by getting the public to notice a particular product/TV show/etc. So, their prank/publicity stunt went bad, and in the process they garnered a LOT more attention from the national media then their stunt ever would have. Then a bunch of reporters show up to ask them about the stunt, and all they get is a 5 minute rant about hairstyles from the 70's....
...and you apparently watched it...or part of it? I know I did...I thought it was funny. Looks like they were successful.
ETA: not that I agree with their tactic, but when it comes to marketing, advertising, and the media, we passed the point of "anything goes" about a decade ago.
