Interesting development: Ron Paul could lose his congressional seat....It seems his opponent for his congressional seat is ahead in polling by about 10 points. (There is also audio of an interview with Paul's opponent at the link below) http://pajamasmedia.com/2008/02/is_ron_paul_losing_for_congres.php Some may call it poetic justice, others may call it unfair, but Ron Paul is in the fight of his political life, but it’s not for the presidency. It’s to stay in Congress from his own district.
While pursuing his thus far quixotic quest for the presidency, Congressman Paul has fallen behind by over ten points in the polls (43-32) in the fight for the Republican nomination in the Texas 14th to challenger Chris Peden, according to internal polls from both campaigns, which Pajamas Media was told were quite similar. Peden is a 43-year old CPA and city councilman from Friendswood, Texas. The primary takes place on March 4.
With reports for January 2008 not yet out, Congressman Paul has spent (according to OpenSecrets.org) $20,262,084 on his presidential campaign - well over a million dollars per delegate (he has 14 to John McCain’s 903). Paul still has nearly eight million in his presidential war chest, possibly more when the new report comes out on Feb. 20, but cannot use any of it in his contest against Peden unless the OBGYN-politician drops out of the presidential race.
In an exclusive interview with Pajamas Media, Chris Peden said Paul is unlikely to forego his long shot pursuit of the presidency because to do so would mean he would not be able to make a coveted speech before the Republican Convention this September in Minneapolis-St. Paul.
But Paul would be well advised to reconsider. His over ten-year incumbency in the 14th District – which spans ten counties of South Texas with 675 miles of coastline – is in jeopardy for several reasons, not the least of which, Peden told PJM, is the reconfiguration of the 14th itself. Since 2004, it not only includes Galveston but suburban Houston as well, coming within six miles of NASA headquarters with many of the space agency’s employees now within the district. Paul is known for opposing funding for NASA, calling it unconstitutional. That would be an ironic end to Ron Paul.

I think the same thing would happen to McCain if he were running for a re-electing bid for his senate seat in Arizona this year.
And yet, he's still a better choice than Obama.
I've always preached a pretty hardline conservative stance, but this election year will provide us with the weakest batch of candidates EVER.

This was destined to happen. The NY Times has turned on their favorite "maverick". The only one who seems to be in shock is the idiot John McCain. He spends years fucking over his own party and in many instances fucking over the best interests of his country just to curry favor with these assholes at the NY Times and like a true moron he is shocked when they turn on him. They published a story insinuating that he had an affair years ago with a lobbyist and made allegations that McCain is less than ethical when it comes to doing favors. It's a National Enquirer type story with no real sources and extremely thin allegations. NY Slimes article..... It couldn't happen to a nicer guy.  EDIT: More about the NY Times article here.... It hasn't been that long since the NY Times endorsed McCain. They had this in the works the whole time and still endorsed him.

I honestly don't see a problem with that photo. Haven't many of our politicians etc. "embraced" a nations garb and traditions while visiting? I ask because I truly don't know. Is this any different? I chalked it up to diplomacy or paying respect. Now if he is the only politician on both sides of the aisle to do something like this or there is some National code forbidding it, then yes it's an issue otherwise.... Meh..... Just to add fuel to the fire. Muslim men are not allowed to wear gold jewelry right? What's on Obama's left hand?

The photo was taken in 2006 when he was in Kenya. That is where his Muslim relatives live and where some of his Muslim friends are currently killing Christians in their tribal feud and quest for power and control of that country. Yes, you heard that right. Obama is friends with the leader of the faction that is killing people. Obama was there in 2006 and was not on a diplomatic mission so you can't say he was dressed like that for any diplomatic reasons. Why would he have to dress in a get-up like that as a sign of respect? They don't expect Westerners to dress like that while on a visit. The guy standing in the picture with him isn't even dressed like that. I've seen American male politicians wear funny jackets in some Asian countries, but I have never seen an American male politician wear a Muslim outfit like that. But then again, I've also never seen an American politician who didn't hold his hand over his heart during the playing of the national anthem either. At least not until Obama.

So, he's on a five day tour of Africa with many other politicians, some of whom have said they all wore something "traditional". See my picture of Bush etc. Every source I have read says that it was given to him as a gift and he was in Africa for a five day political visit.
Where does it say you have to put your hand on your heart for the Anthem? At least he was one of the few to actually SING it, while many others stood like bumps. Granted poor etiquette, but it's not required. There are many pictures of him before that "dabacle" with hand over heart. It's a non-story imho.
I hate to be the one to defend him, but I think many are grasping at straws. Time will tell I guess.

I don't know what to tell you on that Jorge. Maybe send Tim Russert an email and he'll ask an issue question for you in the debate tonight. Maybe you can send Hillary a message too to stop passing out pictures of Obama playing dress up as a Somali warlord. What are the issues Jorge? How can the media talk about issues when your candidates don't mention much details about the issues. All one does is talk about "change" and "hope".
