I JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED THE A 02 2WD X XE. I WANTED THE SC BUT I DIDNT THINK IT WAS WORTH THE MONEY. INSTEAD I PURCHASED THE GIBSON EXHAUST SYTEM, K&N AIR FILTER AND SOME NEW PLUGS, AND WOW! I CANNOT BELIEVE THE DIFFERENCE. GAS MILIAGE WENT UP ABOUT 3 MILES TO THE GALLON AND I CAN ONLY IMAGINE THAT IT GETS BETTER ONCE THE MOTOR BREAKS IN. IT ALL RAN ABOUT 200 BUCKS BUT IT BEATS THE SC. I RECOMEND THIS TO EVERYONE THAT FELT THE SC WAS A LITTLE MUCH. YOU WONT BE DISAPOINTED.

Really. You can tell me all about how fast your non SC is after you have finished choking on my dust.
If more power is so important to you that you modified a brand new vehicle to get extra hp, don't you think you rushed your decision a bit? :p

K&N dont add any HP ( well maybe 1)
Gibson will add couple, but hardly noticable with out dyno
New spark plugs? hmm, dono, cant comment ( but dont think will add enough to notice )

when the numbers in the computer go back to the original setings, the light goes off, when the numbers change to new setings the light goes back on ( on ocations)

i am thinking about just leaving the new numbers, and forget about the light

My S/C has a G.W. of 4,200 lbs. (without load or occupants). I'd have to be sliding (not rolling) down a glacier of ice with tailwind to be fast.

ITS A "RICE ROVER!", quote me on that one. Nah, Gas Milage up 3, uh huh........right. Also new Sparks dont do anything except a quicker fire rate on each piston turn and thats about it. As fas as a standard K&n goes, nope no HP there, as noted above maybe 1 HP. Now the Air Charger Kits and Cold air intakes are a different story but remember the X is not a racer, you silly ricer. X's arent for kids!

Actually, the XOC sticker on the back, in combination with the fuzzy dice on the rearview mirror increased my gas mileage AND HP at the same time

I found that if I turn my engine off going down hills I get better gas milage.. Who would have thunked it? I also have a theory that if I remove the back seats and the bumpers, I can squeak out .0324 mpg in highway driving. :rolleyes: Wonder if I can Ebay that mod?

I didn't get the Xterra to race it... but coming from a Camaro (L36 version) I knew I wouldn't be happy without the 210 HP version.

Of course it's not as fast as the Camaro was... wait, lemmie compare apples to apples... If I was to put the trailer on the Camaro, load it down, then put 6 suitcases in the back of the camaro (oh, wait! I can't do that can I?) along with a couple family members....

Yeah, I bet the Xterra would beat the Camaro, especially cause the Camaro tailpipes dragging on the ground would slow things down a bit. And after we raced the 10th time, it would be a no contest cause the 4L60E tranny would be fried.

But hey! I do know how to substantially improve your highway mileage - Draft off an 18 wheeler! Guaranteed! No extra expense!

I'm thinking the only other performance mods I'd seriously consider (already got the K&N) would be to bump up the boost - but only if I could maybe get an intercooler as well. I want continuous duty, stable, not requiring a recharge improvements that I don't have to screw with when possible. And I think I'm asking for too much maybe? Probably those don't fit into the cheap mod thread.

Oh well. But don't stop looking for ways to improve the X whatever you do. Everything can be improved!
