Wouldn't it be cool to go on an expedition and do it for a cause? I'm sure Nissan would like the publicity and a testament of what their vehicles can do... and become... for a good cause.

Get Nissan, some sponsors, parts manufacturers (ARB, etc.), some seasoned wheelers, expert logistics, etc. and a medical research team as a recipient... and we're good to go!

...and here's what Mobil 1 is playing as their commercial right now. Click on "Drive Around the World"

Just thinking out loud... wink

Would be great, but don't count on Nissan. Lets just take Wolf's rig and we would be all set laugh

Heck even Toyota was tight about sponsoring the world record holder; 22+yrs, 117 countries, 451,000 KM and counting wink

Think I would build my Toyota for this type of trip over the nissan for a lot of difference reasons including more space. Hum a lot of gas cans and some screens so I could sleep in the back [LOL]

Yeah... Jason's rig epitomizes "expedition" in all aspects. Can't wait the progress of his "Expedition Xterra" website.

If my memory serves me right, there's even talks of a few fellow SCCX members long time ago to drive down to Mexico to bring used clothes, food, water and other life's necessities around Christmas time... sorta like "Santa's Xterra!"

Even simple expeditions like that... to benefit local communities or neighboring countries in need... is always something that fascinates me.

Hope we can do something like this, even if we don't have to travel all over the world.

By the way, I just got "Long Way Round" special edition. I can't wait to watch the rest of the episodes!!!

Alright! Looks like we are getting more and more people interested!

People from different states:
HI
RI
CA (X3)

Let's brainstorm! I already have a suggestion for a logo that is quite befitting the cause...

...but more on that later!

ok well collectively what skills do have. Building houses, medical skills, farming, or anything like that.

Me- I've done construction work before, and I was a lifeguard for almost 4 years. I should have a degree in Psychology here in a few months. [Smoking]

I also know a social worker that would interested in going.

Im thinking of something where we can go down into South America and perhaps help to build schools, or other public use buildings and perhaps if we have medical staff we could add that element.

WOW! What a coincidence! I have a Bachelors in Psychology and also a soon-to-be Registered Nurse. And a real passion for adventure expedition with a humanitarian goal.

Every aspect or educational background, no matter what discipline, will play a role as long as we share the same ideals. Logistics planning, geographical knowledge, visa preparation, medical support, counter-threat/self-defense training, linguistics/translator, publicity/marketing, perhaps even a dedicated film crew or some sort of historian would be helpful.

I like the South American expedition idea. That really reminds me of the MAYAN HUNTER where an expedition team was led by a doctor from US to Guatemala to dig and do some archaelogical work. Vehicle and parts were furnished by sponsors such as ARB, Warn, Skyjacker, etc. Off-Road Adventure Magazine subscribers should be familiar with this (2005 issue).

Thanks for all the interests and lets keep the ideas coming! wink

It would definitely be an epic adventure of a lifetime! A good article for WolfmanX\'s website.

I was interested, but kept the interest quiet until my girlfriend saw the Mobil 1 commercial on TV and said, "Hey, you could do something like that!" If there is a decent proposal (like brining used clothing to Mexico or doing something humanitarian, I am definitely in. Of course, pending that we can do things within a reasonable amount of time. I am in no position to take a year off from work smile Is there anything we can do in Patagonia? As for the skills, I could be the local techie/computer/electornics/photo guy.

I think maybe a weekend, a week or two is good... for starters... and learn from it. Taking months off will require lots of preparation and commitment.

Just my thoughts.
