Open these in new browser windows and compare them: Xterra-side Xterra front Jeep side I think its just the wheel wells that look similar now that they're a little more squared off. Other than that, I don't think it looks like a liberty at all. You could compare a lot of SUVs from the side and make similar comments though.

Thanks for the pics. Man it really reminds me of a Liberty. I hate the Liberty.

what do you mean offroad? are you trying to be mean or what? i mean because you really shouldnt be mean, everyone is just excited that a new x is coming out, with a new look. its not like the ohter models and years, where theyre the same on the inside and outside. so just relax man and enjoy. stop being so after all we're all xterra owners. i know its not like when i see another x coming down the road right or is it? i usually wave and flash the highbeams, why, becuase we xterra owners. so anyways, take it easy offroad and relax because its getting old, ive seen your posts and youre usually a jerk as everyone else could agree, i know this is my first post, but hey someone gotta tell you to relax.

Indeed it is, though people still manage to miss it and announce the new 05 or ask obvious questions about it Perhaps Ian or X-Chosen can edit the topic so it's a bit more obvious that this thread is the mother-lode of 05 X info so far... Just figured out that the 2005 Xterra will be 3 inches lower than the current model. That doesn't sound very interesting to me!!!

Uh, how did you figure that out? As far as I'm aware, they increased the clearance...

Hi,
I understand that most articles about the 2005 Xterra mentioned about the 2 inches higher and 2 inches additional head room comparing to the old model. The reason why I mentioned about the 2005 model will be lower than the current model is that the following link
(http://www.edmunds.com/future/2005/nissan/xterra/100381313/specs.html?tid=edmunds.f.photos.leftsidenav..1.Nissan*)
says that the height is 71.4 inches.
But I looked at the current Xterra Specs on nissan.ca, and it indicates that the height is 74.2 inches.
Any ideas??

Well, [URL=http://nissannews.com./nissan/2003vehicles/xterra/specs.shtml, says it is currently at 74.4 (depending on model), and the 2005 should be 71.4? That just don't seem right? [URL=http://nissannews.com./nissan/2005vehicles/xterra/specs.shtml,

However, Nissan US and Nissan Canada haven't been able to answer this question to me yet.

Well there ya go... The 2005 Xterra’s wheelbase has been extended two full inches for a smoother ride and greater interior room, yet the overall length is only two-tenths of an inch longer due to a reduced front overhang. The Xterra’s width has also been increased by 2.5 inches, while height has increased 1.9 inches. Interior flexibility has been enhanced with a 60

Also, as the new 2005 Xterra is using the VQ engine, I'm worrying about the gas type it will be using might be the PREMIUM gas...which is gonna cost a lot more. Hope that's not gonna happen.

Sounds alot like the roof rack's dimensions playing here to me. Sometimes the height's given w/o the rack, sometimes with the rack. Any chance that's the discrepancy?

Yeh I hope that's the case even though I really doubt that the roof rack thing on the top is 5 inches tall (3 inches to match the current model + 1.9 inches taller than the current model). Anyway, we'll see.

Been trying to follow this thread but I don't know where the whole rear locker rumor stands. I was at the western Xterra championships this weekend and they were previewing the 2005 Xterra (and the pathfinder) the Nissan reps confirmed that a rear locker will be a factory option when they are released. I am pretty much sold on the 2005, my only complaints is the rear half resmbles the Honda element from a side view and head room feels smaller in the front (i'm 6'1") although Nissan said that could be the seat adjustments which I didn't fiddle with very much.

I think the following the 2005 Xterra will be sharing the same engine with Frontier. and the number is: http://www.nissanhelp.com/News/Most%20Powerful%20V6%20Pickup.htm "Nissan North America, Inc. today announced best-in-class horsepower and torque ratings for the all-new Nissan Frontier pickup, which goes on sale at Nissan dealerships nationwide in December 2004. The completely redesigned 2005 Frontier comes equipped with an available 4.0-liter DOHC, 24-valve V6 engine that is rated at 265 horsepower and 284 lb-ft of torque. Both figures are expected to be the highest ratings for any V6-equipped pickup – mid-size or full-size."
