A quick tweak and heres the 2005 without the generic Nissan SUV grille bars. In my opinion it is much better. That, and replacing the badges to their original 2000-2004 X positions.

No "steptronic" there, if you look at the hi-res of that pic, it's just that they have the 2 and 1 doglegged at the end of the lever stroke:

Here's an interesting thought. Stillen makes a CARB and Nissan approved supercharger for the Z that when coupled with their exhaust system puts out a claimed 390HP.

That's using an unmodified Z engine with stock internals that a Nissan dealer will install and Stillen warranties for 3/36.

The answer could be : $5,000 and a trip to your Nissan dealer and you can have a 350+ HP X.

I tried that first but didn't like the way it looked as much as the 02+ style bar-across-the-grille look. Still better than stock, though. Too much bling.

Then again, I suppose that is a good thing - shows just how much they did get right.

Personally I am leaning really strong towards selling my current X and trading up - I was quite impressed by what I saw, and the specs are even better - I think Nissan will have a home run. I'm going to gamble that they are going to keep the prices comparable (they have to). Could be a long 9 month wait

And yeah, the grill is a gripe, but it's a pretty big gripe.. styling was one of the biggest draws of the Xterra for most people, and they've taken the piss on that.

I've just about decided to make the trade in 06 or 07, but I'm going to make the dealership bodyshop paint the grill or no deal.

I want to wait for some tried-and-true mods to come out first, since I'll be swallowing my pride and throwing away money on the 4x4.
