Considering getting the calmini 3 inch lift (shacles) for my 2005. Can somebody tell me what the pros and cons are between a 3" lift and a 5" lift specifically calmini. I know the obvious longer travel, bigger tires may equal higher ground clearance but how much difference does that make between the 2 lifts. confused

The big difference, price.

Other than that, it's 2" difference which does actually make quite a difference when it comes to travel. No matter which way you go 33" tires is all that's going to fit.

Not necessarily. Word is, you can fit 33.5" tires with no trimming and possibly up to 35" with trimming(how much dont know).

Word is you can fit 35's? I have 33's right now and I think without rolling fenders, and some major trimming 35's won't fit. The 33's barely fit in the rear wheel wells fully compressed. I would like it if I could fit 35's. I am very happy however with the 33's because my X is my daily driver and it doesn't ride any different than factory.

Thats part of what I understood. I consider myself a novice offroader still learning my limits, I am not looking at extreme rock crawling but will do some offroading. I am looking for somebody to sell me on the 5" over the 3" and why. I don't forsee myself going to 35" anytime soon since its also my daily driver and gas prices being what they are especially in CA.

No I don't but I do have the Daystar lift. I also know that once you go over 3" you need to modify a lot more items, brake lines, ABS wires, shocks, some major trimming. This doesn't include the fact that the lift is more expensive and harder to install. I am not saying that I am against the 5", but it is quite a bit more work and money. If the extra 2" worth that then by all means go for it.

It is expensive. My thinking is, if you have the money to spring on that lift, you can afford to do all the other modifications mentioned. If I had an 05/06 and the budget I would go for it.

With the rear wheel wells only being 34" I doubt you'll be fitting any 35's in there. You might with the 5" lift and a 3" body kift. Or taking the sawzall to the fenders.

The Calmini truck from what I hear is only running 33's. I would think that if larger would fit that they would do it.

The only thing that stops me from going to the 5" lift (Calmini or SLR) is price. It's not going to be cheap. If you got the money then go 5", if not, go for the 2.5".

Supose you can fit 35s by lifting, trimming or whatever, do you think the front axle can handle 35s?

No, I was told my Cyclemut that 35s are NOT recommended on the front axle. You should be ok, if you dont wheel it hard, but I am going to listen to the Nissan Tech. on this one and stay away from 35s.

That's what I thought, and I'm gonna wheel it hard... Thanks.

Actually, chances are you will not gain any travel out of the front suspension because it's only a spindle/spacer lift.
Unfortunately Calmini doesn't have any specs listed to confirm this. It would be like putting lift blocks on an over axle... you get lift but it won't do a thing for wheel travel.
