For Garmin GPS owners planning to attend goneMOAB in April, the link below is a Garmin MapSource file containing waypoints and routes for all but 8 of the 50 trails described in Charles Wells' book
Guide To Moab, Utah Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails .
Here\'s another more descriptive link about the book.
The
moabtrails.mps file is optimized for use with GPS V units, but should be compatible with other Garmin units with minor modifications. You may need to remove waypoints and/or routes to make it work within the limits of your Garmin unit.
You may also need MapSource version 4.11 or newer (free update on Garmin's website) to use the file. Some routes use autorouting data from CitySelect 4.01, but can be recalculated as manual routes.
The GPS data is intended to be used in conjuction with, not a substitute for, topographic maps and the guidebook.
Because I got tired of entering data, the following trails from the book are not contained in the .mps file:
10 Spring Canyon Point (E)
11 Spring Canyon Bottom (E)
12 Hey Joe Canyon (D)
13 Mineral Point (E)
14 Mineral Bottom (E)
29 Picture Frame Arch (E)
36 Onion Creek, Fisher Towers (E)
47 Colorado River Overlook (E)
