Time to start putting in requests for time off

goneMOAB will be Monday May 30th - Friday June 3rd.

We are working on securing a portion of Portal RV park so that ALL can stay at the same place. We are also working with vendors to have stuff to give out. There will be T-shirts (and I am working on stickers)

More info will be given as it becomes available.

I asked on the previous goneMoab post. is GOX a total nogo, because if it is I will be in Moab. My wife limited me to just 1 big trip a year frown . If GOX is a go then I would like to attend that since I have done goneMoab.

Just curious, figured I would ask the "boss man".

GOX was an Ian thing and I do not think that I could do as well as what he did. That and I do not have the knowldge of the Colorado trails that Ian had.

goneMOAB is it now.

Oooh, good dates. I might actually be able to make that trip.

Carlton, are you gonna update the gonemoab.com website with information for 2005's trip?

RMXC may put on an event that would be very similar to the original GOX format in Ouray around Labor Day. We will post information this summer if it will happen.

Bummer. Right about that time, I'll be driving through England and Scotland.

In a car that would probably easily fit inside the X.

With no offroad capabilities.

On the wrong side of the road.

Eating haggis or some shit.

In 60 degree weather.

Well, maybe I'll be at Moab next year. Ya'll have fun.

Hell I might be able to talk the wife into letting me do two big trips or better yet come along.

Are there going to be less challenging trails for stock vehicles?
I look at the itinerary and the trails like Steelbender, Wipeout Hill and Metal Masher sounds like real fun but they don’t sound like something I want to do to my wife’s truck.
I will be there… already reserved a hotel but I hope there will be some guidance for less experienced.

I ran most of the trails last year stock + calmini sliders and had no problems on fins, steel bender, hells revenge, and poison spider. No damage from those trails. Damn I wish I could go this year. By the way going to gone stock may be hazardous to your wallet in the mods you will want to do afterwards.

OK. I signed in. This should be fun based on the pictures from previous years.

Like was stated..

Most of the trails can be made in a stock Xterra. There are bypasses for the harder parts on most trails.

OK..

We are still working on getting other sponsors as it seems that Nissan will not be supporting this event as much as we would like.

As it stands now. We do not have the money to rent the section of Portal RV park and we will have to charge for t-shirts and decals.

More information as it becomes available.

I'll purchase some shirts and stickers, no problem.

If there is anything that I can do, let me know.

Well, with a mall-crawlin' Armada, I won't officially "be there at GONE", but I'll be in Moab from about the 30th to the 3rd or so.

You might see my ugly mug show up to say "hey." laugh [Wave]

Your Armada is welcome at gone, you just will be limited to scenic drives (i.e. not the posted trail runs). Go ahead and sign up at www.gonemoab.com

Thanks Doug. I had no plans other than "Onion Creek" or some other scenic route in my 'rig'.

I was also thinking if someone had a spare seat to ride along with for a half-day, I might get in some "co-pilot wheeling". I'll let the wife and kid have the Armada and I'll bring the cameras. [ThumbsUp]

Every time we go, we stay at the Sorrel River Ranch along the Colorado...It's kinda spendy at $200+ per night, but I gotta keep the Mrs happy. It's all good. smile

Edit: From Poison Spider last year...err...'03, I think: I miss it.

I'll be solo at gone, so if you want to ride along for a trail or so, you're more than welcome. Bring the sunscreen though, I'll be no-roofing it for then (weather permitting).

(I'll keep ya posted as the date approaches, but that would be sweet. All we're getting in the desert here is rain lately, so some sun will be nice. laugh )
