Getting ready for GONE...

Alright, there should be plenty of Gen2 trucks there, so it'll be interesting to see what's being done to them.. As for us oldskoolers, most trucks are and have been pretty well outfitted previously; lifts, lockers, now even the SAS' are showing up in force. I've decided to stay IFS and to finish off my XTERRA buildup, i'm doing the following things by this years GONE. Post up what you're getting done by the end of May to have the best, safest time you can in Moab. Install- R200A Front LSD CALMINI 3.92:1 gears XD9000i WARN winch Plasma rope / Hawse fairlead / Sweet-ass hook CALMINI SAS Spring Packs AC Spring perch sliders 2" AC Body lift / Liner lips 4 ea 5"x7" 100w lights (custom lightbar) Replace- IAB TREs Fuel filter TC Crossmember OPTIMA (red to yellow)

There maybe other things ie Raingler barrier net, Optima Batt. so on and so forth.

Well, this will be my first time at Moab or a place similar to it, so, a bit nervous about things and trying to get as much stuff that will help me get through it as undamaged and safe as possible. The main things that I WILL have by then is
- HD Calmini Steering System - Optima Yellow Top - CO2 - other random smaller things
I HOPE to get:
- Rear Locker - HD Calmini Torsion Bars - Bilstein Shocks all around
Just depends on some funds coming in! Either way, I'm excited to go with what I have!

We did it on Troys but it was on the inside of the swing arm of the tire carrier. Right behind the tire, still plenty of clearance between the door and opener.

There are a number of optional trails and obstacles for folks with built trucks to play on, but we have had bone stock 4 banger Frontiers come out. Sliders are always a good thing to have. At the very least take off the step rails. -Doug

Hey Guys, It's taken me about 4 years total to get all that stuff installed on my X... Plus, all the repairs from dead, cracked, or broken parts along the way, I had purchase again to replace... Of course, their are some lucky ones out there that can get everything "Right Now" and have it all installed within a week or two from the time they receive the parts... Although, I suspect the good majority of the rest of us just get something once a month or every other month... Good luck you guys with your steering systems...

I've got the bottle opener on Andy, and I just might use it now to enjoy a cold beer after flipping the springpacks around this morning. (Thanks again to IH8Rubn for his garage ) EDIT to add- Whoops, 37 days!!

Poorboy, I am thinking of following what Garmin's MapSource tells me: Hwy 6 N to Waco, then I-35/35W to Fort Worth, then 287 to Amarillo, I-40 to Gallup, NM, SR666 to Monticello, SR 191 to Moab. Plan on leaving on Saturday morning, May 20 from Houston, and staying somewhere overnight around Amarillo. Don't know details yet - I am waiting to see if a celebrity within XOC and other forums will be riding with me It would be cool to try an caravan with you guys, if it can work for everyone.

We are going to try and meet the SouthEast guys in or around Amarilo on Friday night. Abiel (from Mexico) will get to my place near Waco on Thursday night after a long drive. We will head out Friday morning. I would guess Jonathan will come over on Thursday night? We too will take 287 to I40 and hopefully meet the others. Anybody is welcome to crash at my place on Thur so we can head out early Friday. All these plans are still in planning so we are flexible. Is your "Shotgun" Scott H or Jim

Well after watching a few videos at our AZXC club meeting on Friday, I've decided you are all insane. See you there next year!

Swapped the springs and an AAL is on the way, but not before gone. Would have sucked if the whole packed snapped on the trail. The crack was partially hidden by the U-bolts.

No confirmation on a celebrity shotgun - don't think he is coming . . . but maybe However, I am bringing a friend who is a serious mountain biker. Also, I rechecked the route and think that I will take a right at Albuquerque and then left (North) on 550. Installation work on skids, rear bumper w/ tire carrier, and lift start tonight - target completion is end of business Thursday.

Dam Carlton, I was looking forward to meeting up with you and Liz again... been too long. However, we all understand the costs involved in the wedding especially in HI. You could always pull a Tony and Daniele style one at GONE Good luck... C U next year!

We don't want to have to extract broken studs out on the trail at night  . See you guys there .

Got my HD Torsion Bars and HD TRA's installed today. Got an alignment. Will probably install my Calmini IAB tomorrow. Looks simple enough to do. Painted my wheels. Now I just need to figure out how to pack it all...

Man, I'm beginning to think I'm not suposed to go this year.. I had my truck at my mech friends place for almost two weeks now, he was installing the gears, and a new clutch. (Was going to add the front LSD too before all the SAS hoopla) Now it turns out due to his ASE testing all last week and Mothers day over the weekend, he hasn't gotten squat done. Looks like this'll be just another IFS, OE LSD week in Moab for me. No big deal, I like a good challenge , but next year, I'm swearing right now and here, I'll be SASd, locked, and geared.
