Gene,
That's one well protected X. Shrock front and rear bumpers, sliders and skids! WOW, Now you just need Jim to make a roof rack and then you will be covered front, back, top and bottom. Looks good. I need to order a set.

Well it doesn't take that long at all..A couple of hours at the most..But when you start getting a bunch of buddies over and you start BSing over some beers it takes all day. Just make sure you have a couple of friends or a floor jack handy to help out with the install.I suggest both. Those skids are pretty heavy.

The weight affects performance about like the same weight an equivalent passenger would add. I think the skids add around 100 lb or so, so a kid gets in, and that's about the performance hit, if you are looking for a way to get a feel for it. I have maybe 500 lb of steel on the X now...So its like my kids are on board all the time.

Lets see, skids are listed twice? Tire and Hi-lift...would have had it anyway. The winches are heavy...I chopped a huge amount of weight by swapping on synthetic winch line and an Aluminum fairlead for the roller fairlead....saved at least 40 lb right there. Calculate the take off...you removed the front and rear bumper it came with...that's 100 lb or so easy...etc. Taking off the stock skid plates lightens the load by maybe 25 lb (Mostly gas skid...), taking off the step rails, mud flaps and rear sway bar saves another 20 lb, etc. You can ameliorate alot of the new weight in this way. Of course, adding welding equipment, tools, spare parts, camping gear, shovels and axes, boxes of body bags, etc...can bring you right back up again.

I think I'll have to take my X down to the scrap yard and get it weighed once I get all the armor on.

Hey, quick question for those with the Shrock bumper and skids... Shrock offers a stainless steel plate as an option with the front bumper. Is that used in lieu of the front steel skid shown in the pics or does it bolt to the steel skid? Seems like the steel skid is the way to go if you only have a choice of using one or another. Thanks. Skids look great, BTW.

that stainless steal on does not replace the front steal one but rather feels up the gap between the bumper and the front skids. Doesnt really have to be purchased but it never hurts to get extra protection.

The stainless skid fits right in front of the front skid in these pictures. It overlaps slightly (about where the front bend is in the above pictures) Here is a picture with the full skids and the stainless skid as well, I am sorry it is so dark but I think you can get the idea at least.

It has now been 4 weeks since ordering my front and rear bumper as well as front and engine skids. I feel like a little kid waiting for christmas to come. When do I get my presents? I run to the window everytime I think I hear a delivery truck on my street. My wife is convinced I have officially lost my mind.

a friend of mine received the full underbody skid plates and it connected directly to the shrock bumper. He has a 2 inch lift also, and I think the version of the underbody skid plate he ordered from jim was made for the 2 inch and shrock front bumper. Maybe you need to mention to him that you have the shrock front bumper as well.
I'll post a pic when I can, it definitely looks different from some pics I have seen here on this forum.

The Front Bumper Skid for a 2in BL version of our front bumper is indeed different.
There is no difference on the underbody skids.
