Shrockworks Roof Rack!

When I talked to Jim a couple weeks ago he I questioned him about a roof rack and he did say something about if there was enough interest...
Jim, buddy, pal,
I have bought a front and rear bumper from you along with a full set of skids...
I will be customer numero uno for a roof rack!
So, when do "we" start development for the Gen 1 X's?
I'm moving to Charlotte soon, so shipping will decrease!
Come on Jim, let us know!

Grrrr...as if I need to send that man more of my money.........consider me in line.
Full roof rack for me....no need for open area for sunroof. My rack is full when camping, ans now that I have UCA's lined up, I will need to replace my loadwarrior to fit in the garage with the lift.

Count me in as well. A replacement roofrack/basket is definitely my next addition.

I think if I get a roof rack it HAS to be low profile, as in undersling the roof rails, or I'm about out of parking garages I can fit into...

I ditto most of the comments here, but I need a "low profile" version for the Next Gen. As my truck will soon be the poster Next Gen X for Shrockworks(Front bumper, sliders, and soon rear bumper w/ tire carrier, & full skids), I would love to continue in that vein as well by adding a "ShrockRack". Hey Jim, maybe a new "name" for a roof rack product? Certainly not as goofy as "Trooper, Knight, Liberator, or Scout"

I would like a roof rack as well, though I would like to keep the roof bin.

I would definetly be down if He made on for the 2nd gen. Also mounts for a hi lift would be cool.

I definitely like the idea of the following options:
* Front lights tabs * Rear light Tabs * Hi-lift mount * Scepter gas/water can mount * Expanded metal floor * Useable front cooler rack * CB antenna mount * Loops to attach racket straps

Full coverage of roof rack. 4 front light tab, 2 rear light tabs. Floor will be either square welded wire or perforated metal (I don't like expanded metal). I'm thinking about adding a CB antenna tab somewhere. Will be finished in black powder coat. Basket is 5", tallest is 7" in the rear. I'll show some more pictures soon.

Skaggs,
That is a nice looking rack! Are you going to powdercoat it afterwards?

OK Id be in on a roofrack. Id perfer that over the rear bumper for the spare. It would nead to meet the following criteria:
*NO TALLER THAN STOCK *4 light mounts on the front 1-2 in back *Holes to pass the Lights' wiring inside the framework. *Uses the entire length of the roof *Avalible flat panelling so things dont drop through *Takes styling cues from landrover Discoveries (they have some sweet roof racks) *optional locking tire mount *CB arial spot???? *Silver Color match
Ive got big plans this summer and A rack that I could load a Hi lift, spare, Storm case, and lights would be great. Then when I got home unload it and still get into the garage.

some place to mount an AUX brake light since people this far into the game will also have your tire carrier, some places they won't be able to pass safety because of the covered brake light..
Maybe some way to put tabs or removable pipes in so you can extend a tarp or covering off the side to provide shade if the truck is being used in a camping setting.
I would also try and see if you can use the same size piping or something comparable to Yakima so those that have all those little gadgets from Yakima won't be out if they get your rack.
Shrockworks airdam
maybe some sort of a track system to put in dividers. its kind of nice to be able to put dirty yank cables in my front basket while I have clean tents in my load warrior.. the two never meet each other which is a good thing..
Don't go light on the number of tie down options..
maybe a covered area that is lockable.. I like the setup on the 05 & 06s That way you can put your stinky boots outside after a hike and not worry about them getting wet/stolen..
Sorry they are unorganized but I was brainstoriming.. OBTW expect a call from me I need a front skid plate for an ARB..

I like these ideas with the exception of the entire roof line. I've found the cargo box extremely useful and I'm not the least bit interested in giving that up. Sorry, it's a keeper. Big things for me: 1. Mounts for lights front and rear 2. Mount for CB antenna 3. Low profile design 4. Place to put Shrockworks sticker...hee hee

The problem is that to make an aftermarket rack and keep the stock roof bin would be a real pain and it would look silly. If that is your goal, just use a Loadwarrior. Here is my suggestion.
First off, one that fits the 05-06 X.
I would want something similar to the Calmini rack w/:
*Removable expanded metal floor.
*The bottom of the rack should follow the roof line, but the top should stay the same height. (so the front is deeper than the back)
*Front and rear light tabs
*Front Air Dam
*Some sort of release system so the rack can be removed without needing to unbolt it from the roof (the mounts can stay).
*Compatible with the Yakima Loadwarrior accessories.
*Front should be formed to fit some sort of aftermarket case (ie. Pelican case) so those of us who the stock front bin and don’t want to lose that functionality.

Yes! Yes! Yes! I am first in line! I want the ability to have a cooler over the front, light tabs in the front/rear, and a way to support/strap Sceptor gas/water cans! This way I can spend a little more money with you! By the way, the wife needs you to fill out the tax forms so I can claim you as a dependent...

All great ideas. I would still like it to be made out of aluminum.
I'm getting tired of painting.
