Here's a link to the first photo we've taken of the new kit- Part # NP12700 Front end kit only. Price-$1795.00 (steel braided front brake lines are included but not shown here)

http://www.purenissan.com/NP12700.jpg

Options to this kit will be: 1) Front Coil-Over Shocks,(Fox,SAW,Bilstein,King)2) Optional Front Sway Bar, 3) Rear Leaf Spring pack for both Xterra & Frontier, 4) Front CV Driveline.

Not included in the kit is the donor axle. The axle used in this kit is a D44 from a 1980-1985 Jeep Waggoneer w/drivers side drop diff and no vacuum disconnect. I know of nothing else that will work.

If you have questions, please call.

I talked with Steve from Calmini/Full-Traction last night about a Jeep lift. Great guy, very knowledgable. They are shaking up the Jeep world with their new kits too.

Sure Ivan, like any job you could obtain pays more than $9 an hour. I'm sure you are just rolling in the dough and ready to blow it on a front axle you could've had stock in a Jee...
nevermind.
How's life otherwise my south of the border, taco eatin', hub blowin', food stamp collectin' brother?

Steve, what length and rate coilovers should we be looking for if we get the coilovers from somewhere else? Any idea on the pricing for the rear end yet?

That's what I'm talking about laugh

Put me down for the front-end kit with the sway bar & cv driveshaft options.

I would be intrested in the SAW coil-overs as well as the FOX's. I would rather order those directly from CALMINI if possible to have them dialed in properly with the kit.

BTW my 85 waggy axle is just about done smile should work great with the eaton e-locker & 5.13 gears.

[edited from some motivation wink can't wait to start [Smoking]

Carlton, can you explain why only an 80-85 d44 will work? Why not an 86+?

I believe that's when they changed the body over, as well as the bolt pattern. Not sure on that.

Also, I think they went to the Dana 30(?).

Prior to 1980 the diff was passenger side drop.
The 1980-1985 is a very good guideline. When I was looking for my axle I found many of them marked incorrectly by the wrecking yard. I had one guy try and tell me a D30 was a D44! The axle that I finally picked up was marked as coming from an 86 Waggy, but after looking at the diff codes it was clear it was from a 83.
Make sure it’s from a mid 80’s Waggy, drivers side drop, 6 lug, no vacuum disconnect with disk brakes and you should be fine. I can measure my axle and give you the exact measurements if you need them.

Yea.. what Doug said

I did most all the labor myself. The only thing I had the shop do was set the R&P.

I replaced all the seals.
New U-joints
New Rotors
New Calipers
Warn manual hubs
Locker
Fresh coat of paint
etc.

The work is really not that bad and if you have the basic tools and some time to work on it you can save a stack of cash.

Ok..I feel like a newbie asking this question, but with a list of required parts, it may be feasible.

So..I not longer have my X, but my girlfriend(and most likely fiancee) has a pristine 2wd that she has had since 2000. I am convinced we wont trade it in until it falls apart.

So this brings the question again. If you are interested in doing a solid axle swap anyway, would it now be feasible to converyt a 2wd with less hassle and cost than trading in for a 4x4 that you don't know maint history on?

New driveshafts, transfer case, and tranny modification? Seems if you find a good deal on a nissan xfer case, it's not that big of an upgrade. Are there computer issues?
Thoughts?
John

Carlton, what size R&P are you going to use?

This has come up once or twice before.. by the time you put a 'yota tcase behind your tranny, the rear driveshaft is to short.. as in steep cv angle.. you would need to get a 4x4 tranny, xfer case & read shaft off a wrecked x.. there may be a crossmember difference for mounting the xtercase also..

My D44 from a 83' waggy on the pathy is 60.5" & the same as the 85' I have rebulid for the X.

When I was looking I came across a couple grand waggy's marked 86 & 90' and they where actually about ~ 3" wider with slightly different steering componets. When you look parts up they seem to change in 86' with the Grand waggy name change over from the standard waggy.

Since the steering, adapters, and geometry is setup for something specific & bolt-on I would go with the recommendations until I know otherwise for sure.

If for some reason an 88 will work I know where you can get one in TN with new bearings seals and gears(stock gears unfortunatly) 300 bucks
