I am thinking about purchasing a 2003 Xterra, but I was wondering if anyone has had a good experience with a professional mechanic when it comes to things like suspension modifications and even wiring. I've heard mixed reviews about taking the vehicle to the dealer, so I thought I'd ask what someone might recommend for me.

My first modification will be a set of skid plates, assuming I find 2003 compatible ones, although I can probably do that myself. Just about anything more complicated won't want to be worke don by me under normal circumsances.
