Hi All

I have an 04 Xterra and the "BRAKE" light on the instrument cluster comes on & off intermittently when the Emergency Brake is NOT ON.

Anybody seen this before or know what I can do to try & fix it?
Thanks!

check your brake fluid level, it might be a little low.

Brake fluid level would cause that??? I thought it was only to let you know the emergency brake is on???

as the fluid in your brakes is pushed into your calipers from wear of the pads it can trip the sensor, that means that it is time to check your pads.

just like granitex said.thanks granite I should have mentioned that. Don't go and fill the reservoir to the top because when you change the brakes and push the pistons back in you will make the fluid overflow out of the reservoir.

Actually, my '03 did this just last week. It wasn't low by much and only took a very little to put the leve back between the "min" and "max" levels. Check it, it might be a tad low.
