I've had my new 05 X OR for about 3 weeks now and just bought the new Coldplay CD, but to my surprise, the CD player did not recognize the disk. The music store guy even came out and tried a couple other copies of the CD but still none of the disks played (although they played just fine in another Car CD player). Apparently, the music companies have a new copy protection scheme that is intented to limit playing it in a computer CD Drive and this may impact the Fosgate's ability to read the disk.

Has anyone else had problems playing some of the newer titles? If so, did you find a solution for the problem?

WOW! That could be a nightmare. Most aftermarket stereos are now MP3 capable.

The RF is MP3s capable and does an excellent job with them. This issue is not about MP3s but Copy Protected CDs. You know the new wave of all music! We all may be screwed. The Service Manual says ( on page 4-11) that some copy protected CDs will not play. I left my new copy of Coldplay at work, but will test it first thing Monday morning. Nissan has covered themselves on this issue.

Just use one of the many utilties you can find by googling around on the Internet to rip it and re-burn it.

As usual, the only people that get screwed by copy protection are the legitimate customers

I managed to get a rip to MP3s and I'm back in business now.
