Today I was out along a very bumpy road and the X started to act really weird with the lights flashing all over and then a second later I smelled a distinct hot smell. Imediately I shut it down and began to wonder.
Upon openin the hood I found that one of the bolts that restrains the battery had broke. the other bolt had held but the plate had bounced on top of the positive (of course) and looks like it melted and even welded it self to the base.
It melted through my auxillary light wiring, the positive battery cable, and welded/melted the piece of bolt that was left directly in half.
It even went through the battery both top and bottom.
Good news:
I had some tape to keep the rest from grounding out. I got a bigger battery.
I just had to post this, I was not expecting so much damage. Maybe just a loose wire.
