I did some searches and found info here about this CB model. It looks good, and I followed a link to a suggested place to buy it, but I have a question. See link:

http://www.valcoelectronics.com/cb/c75wxst.htm

At the bottom there's a choice for buying the "Optional remote mount power supply box". My question is - is this a 2nd remote mount that's optional, or do you actually have to buy BOTH of these things to get the thing up and running? The $89 price seems much lower than what I've seen elsewhere, so I'm looking for strings attached...

Thanks.

Even though I don't have this CB I think I can answer your question. Most of the controls are mounted on the handset, but there is some installation requuired. It isnt just "plug up and go". I think the optional power box lets you install in another vehicle and have the ability to switch from car to car. Hope this helps,
john

The optional remote power lets you install another metal box part in a second vehicle. That way you can just unscrew the "mic" from one vehicle and move it to the other. All you need is shown in the top picture.
I've got one and I ended up getting an external speaker for it because the mic speaker is a little small and tinney sounding.

Thanks! smile

Man, this place has a great price compared to other places. I'm looking at antennas now. The Firestik looks like the way to go just judging by the number of people who have chosen it. But what's the difference between the FS and KW series? I see that they vary by length vs. watts, but I'm not sure what criteria to use to make a decision based on that...

Yes! The Valco price includes the remote box and the CB unit! The one you see listed is so you can mount it in a separate vehicle and just disconnect the CB unit and transfer it instead of transferring it wires and all.

I ordered mine from them and got it in 2 days!

I ordered mine from them and it's true... great prices and service. I also ordered the second control unit so I can use it in my truck and pathy. Love that thing!
