In one of your posts you told someone that if they needed another source of power to let you know. I'm wiring my CB up so that it will fit int he dash. It need a constant power suplly to maintain the memory. I was thinking about wiring it into the radio power wire. Think that would be bad?

There are two power wires to your radio. A constant (duh) and switched. Meaning it is hot when the key is in any position but off. Be sure to wire into the constant power if you need the radio to maintain memory. Just be sure to turn the radio off when you get out!

The lighter outlet is alway's hot and should be a clean source of power too.

I plagiarized myself from an earlier post:

A convenient place to get unswitched power on a 2000 X is at the power socket relay. This relay is light blue and can be found just above where the parking brake shaft enters the dash. Tap off of the red/white striped wire right at the relay socket. An insulation displacement connector like Radio Shack #64-3052 will work. That red/white wire is fused for 20 amps. The fuse is in the relay box just behind the battery.

Is that the same relay that you yank to make the power socket always on?
