would anyone have any suggestions/opinions on portable cb/scanners? would you suggest/recommend one for the occasional user? if so are there any you would recommend? or is the big antenna and base the best way to go? if so, what would you recommend......

i would be using it strictly for emergency, maybe weather channels if available, when in the back country and need to get in touch with emergency services (knock on wood) for example etc.. to replace the cell phone that loses it signal etc out there
