lets see, I am at work and the wife was driving the X today (Snow) she pushed the rear defrost button and the power cut off. She went into the store and when she came back out, she had to open the door manually as the remote would not work. She tried to start it and it was totally dead. I think its a fuse but which one?

A quick glance at the manuals...

Try the interior fuse area, on the left side of the steering wheel and down. Have her check #28 which is the furtherest right column and bottom one. Check if is blown.

Still looking.

What if...

Don't want to scare you but... what if your alternator died? - And the truck was running on the last bit-o-juice in the old battery. Pushing the defrost sucked it dry ceasing the spark killing the motor…

Sheeesh, hope it's the fuse!

I'm leaning toward the battery. it is 4* out right now and its the original batt. After talking to her some more, it sounds like a dead batt or corroded cables. I'll keep you posted.

I hear ya man every time the temp drops you find out if your battery is any good. Its -10* up here and this is what I feel like.

It was the battery. It was 4* outside and she was sitting in the truck listening to the radio and XM radio tuner. when she turned on the rear defroster, the surge wierded out the electrics. She started changing channels and turned the lights on. When I got there at 2pm and tried to jump start it the battery was registering 1v on the multi meter. A guy tried to jump it with he "battery Box" and that drained real fast. She pulled her car in and we hooked up the cables. when I tried to jump it this time, my wife says "the lights are on" go figure. Jumped it and all is fine now.

thanx for the help

2000 with the original battery, get that thing changed asap, it might have taken a charge now but you dont want to be stuck out in the middle of nowhere at 2am and -10° out.
