I just bought a used 2000 XE without the power package. I love my X, but I need power locks installed. I have called around to some local installers and have been quoted anywhere between $400 to $500 for all five doors to have power locks, and for remote keyless entry. Does this sound like a fair deal?

Unfortunately.....Yes. I once got a bid from a friend to install power door locks on my Toyota Tacoma 4x4 (just 2 doors obviously) and he wanted $200. The solenoids and transmitter were about $180. That was just the hardware. I forgot what brand, but I trusted they were well made.
