I have one of those cords that leaves the cigarette lighter and charges my cell phone, but I was wondering...

In my 01, I noticed that the plug in higher up, above the 4 wheel drive shifter, only provides power while the car is on (which is really all I need), but is less atractive (dangling wire).

But, the second outlet, behind the shifter, is a more convenient place to plug the charger into. The only thing that concerns me is, if I leave the phone plugged in (overnight for example), will it drain the car battery, or will I be OK????

I'm almost positive you'll be OK. A cell phone battery just won't suck up that much juice. I've recharged my phone with the X parked before - not overnight, but for 3-4 hours, which is enough time to fully charge the battery.

I don't want to say for sure, but I think someone else more electronically inclined (Electroken!) will back me up here.

I leave my phone charger plugged into the lower outlet all the time.. Never have left my phone on it... But you should be fine.

It should be fine except in extreme cases: like with a 5 year old battery in the X at -20 degrees F when you need every last electron to start the engine.
