I'm putting in an amp and subs, but keeping the stock head unit. (I know about the rca convertor thing already) I really don't want to pay a place to install it for me. I'm good with electronics, and following schematics, so I figure I could do this one one my own (with some help from a friend that knows more about installations)

My question is: where are the screws located in the '02? I hear all this talk of "behind the ashtray" for 00-01', but the 02' doesn't have an ashtray. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as doing this myself will save me $150. So, if anyone has any instruction/pictures/diagrams could you share?

Thanks guys. When removing the trim pieces, how easy is it to break the clips that hold it in place? I don't want to break my truck.

The tabs are molded as part of the trim piece. I got my fingers under it on the forward edge in front of the gear shift and just pulled up. It came off pretty easily.

Yep, sure did. I tried it yesterday just to comfirm the procedure. However, I'm curious how you get the lower trim piece out of the way of the shifters.

I pulled it back far enough to get to the screws and pulled the dash panel off then dropped the lower trim piece back into place while I worked. I didn't need to get under it for what I was doing.
