yeah, i'm gona be getting some BFG AT's when these tires have had it. im in the navy so i dont get to much in the lines of a paycheck to toss at tires. i didnt really creap in but i wasnt cruising through. i'd say i slowed down to much when i approached the hole when i know i should have tried to keep up momentum. i read here that you should rock the truck by going reverse & drive a few times. i got almost out a couple of times but then i got high centered & thats all she wrote. as to the others about it, what ever. your not born with the ability to off road so i took a chance to see what i could do. i'll get better as i keep at it but i'll prolly get stuck more. also wasnt there a thread earlier about "show us your stuck pics?" meh, i had fun.

You gotta live in and learn... ignore the people who never get their tires any deeper than a mud puddle.

Another trick when you are stuck is to wiggle the steering wheel from left to right in a quick fashion, while you get on the throttle.

I think at that point he'd be digging in deeper but what do I know. The left to right did work for me in the sand though.

Doubt that'd help without any power to the front wheels/tires.

I've seen some 2wd X's do some pretty impressive things, but they are limited because they aren't 4wd. Just like I've seen stock Xterra's do impressive things, but they too were limited because they were stock, not modified. And you're definately going to get stuck more if you hit the trails simply because you have a 2wd X. :rolleyes: There are trails out there which a 2wd vehicle can do, but there are others which a 2wd has no business being on.

The "Show us Your Stuck pic" thread had one thing in common for all of the Stuck pics -
they were of 4 wheel drive vehicles, all in sticks much more "severe" than yours...

I have wheeled since 2001, on my 2nd X (which has seen less wheeling after we had a kid). I have done most of the trails in Moab, WA, some in Oregon and driven BC thin. I have been stuck over 2 dozen times...all in 4 low mind you.

FWIW though, with how f-ing expensive gas it these days, I really can't see why people would buy a 2x4 SUV. If you don't wheel, then 4x4 comes in handy in snow and ice and a 4x2 is just another "car" on the road. The resale value of a 4x2 worse too. But hey, it's your $$ and you spend it how you want.

If I ever catch someone out wheeling where we wheel with a 4x2 that gets stuck, I would help them get unstuck, then tell them to get the f*ck off the trail. Hell, our club doesn't even allow 4x2s in because we would have them attached to permastrap the whole way and what fun is that? I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm just telling you how it is.

What you should do is go trade that sucker in on a 4x4 before you destroy your current ride. If you already have the bug and are putting your truck at undo risk, then just bite the bullet now and trade up. Besides, the rates are dropping so much right now that I would bet you would be sitting at the same payment that you have now.
