Everyone here is gonna build thier truck to thier own liking and style of wheeling. I'm sure that the way Eastside is configured, it wouldn't make a rockcrawler (but let's face it, if you want to crawl, IFS ain't gonna be your best bet anyways, you're better off with a built up Jeep or Sami)

But for the beach runs (the majority of the wheeling accessible to us in Hawaii) the wider the tires the better. That X was just glidin' over the sand (untill I got stuck up to my frame and he had to try to pull me out)

Anyways, to each his own, build your rig custom to the wheeling you do and just enjoy it!

OMG! Please, please, please put that thing on something besides a dirt road or mud.... I bet it would break tie rods in my driveway........

Anyone else notice that EVERY image that this moron posted shows his truck going in a strait line and on level ground? Perhaps that is how he keeps it from blowing up parts.

If you look in the pics, its a custom steering system designed long before calmini, and slr even had theres out. Gee wonder where they came up with there ideas....

Well...you probably don't have too many sandy beaches over there in Colorado. :rolleyes: But over here, where the majority of wheeling is on the beach, that setup is perfect. The wider the tire, the bigger your footprint, and the easier it is to float on the soft sand we wheel in.
99% of the trucks that wheel over here, Nissan, Toys, Fords, Chevys, Jeeps, no matter what, have very wide tires. If you don't have 'em, you are stuck...if you are locked front and rear, then you might have a chance. The rigs with wide tires just glide right over the sand. Anyone with "pizza cutters" has the sense not to try taking thier truck on the beach...too darn soft!
A rig built for wheelin on rocks will be configured differently than one built for the sand. People over here understand that and build them accordingly. When they have the "4X4 Tour around the island" every year, about 50 or 60 trucks all get together, all makes and models, and do a parade type thing around the island and downtown Waikiki. Maybe two or three trucks will have 11.5 or 10.5's. The rest really wide. It took me a while to get used to it, but after getting stuck out on the sand 3 times, I've learned my lessons.

Like I say it took me a lot of getting used to, but in an environment where everyone who wheels is doing it "Island Style", it's pretty much just a fact of life.

Me? I'm still runnin' 31x10.5's on stock wheels, mostly because I will be coming back to the mainlaind in a few months, and will probably never wheel on the beach after this. So...not worth it to me to spend the cash on wide wheels/tires, but if you click on my link, you can see how well I do in the sand :rolleyes: ...compared to the guys I go out with...

I may be dead wrong, but the sand looks nice and compact in the top shot...I'm telling ya...these beaches over here are like quicksand!
But not that I'm complaining about suffering on the beach through 80 degree weather and bikini girls all year round :p

That launch was probably in Pismo... in california - where we have BOTH beach and mountain wheeling! Sometimes, like at the CalX events - both in the same day.

We all do some crazy shit... both within and with out of bound of warrenty and sanity - but that's whay we're all here... isn't it?

We all drive Xterra's and love to brag about our lives.... lets all just get along anf enjoy the scenery along the way...

If you cant be quiet... shut the hell up and find another to add a few linesof code to...

Of course it looks like that beach cruiser will break tie-rods in moab, but its in Florida and staying there...... Its looks like am R/C and I like it! move on....
