What kind of dog is this?



Looks like a miniture pincher, but ive never seen those colors on. I think i would prefer them.

He's a Basenji, aka African Barkless Dog. Basenji's a Swahili word that means Bush thing. They're an aboriginal African Bush dog. The first ones came out of Africa in the late 1930's.
The breed's thousands of years old and were pets of the Pharaohs. Rich is eight years old and a retired show champion.

That's the first set up I had in the X, with the full cargo area lined with the 3/4" thick rubber stall pad. Nice, but she seemed to feel it was too much space to get steady footing. And it smelled like I had a load of old tires back there.

Then we went to just the rear cargo area with the pad trimmed to fit that. That was better for stability-leaning, but the recycled rubber smell just wouldn't quit.

Now we've got a Husky cargo liner for the rear cargo area only. I wish it was thicker, but overall it's the best solution so far.

Thanks, I really miss those pups. Thank god for Rich! I probably owe my sanity to him and the amazing couple that gave him to me after I lost Lady, Bo, Strider and Dew. That year was worse than any nightmare I could possibly dream.

That's a nice looking Basenji. I have a Basenji/sheppard mix that we adopted as a puppy. We named her Soco (southern comfort)..
And I also have a pure breed male Shiba Inu, we named JD (Jack Daniels)..
We carried on the tradition of naming our dogs after liquor from my parents. Works pretty well, but people think that we're alcoholics when we keep calling out for Soco.

I've said for years, Shave a Sheba Inu and you have a Basenji! When I lived in Walnut Creek, CA a neighbor woman had a Sheba who went crazy whenever she saw my male, Bo. she'd jump all over him and Bo, normally other dog agressive, let her. Woman who owned the Sheba was a stone FOX, but I was never able to get her to jump all over me.

Both my dogs in the front seat. Drivers seat is Roxy and the pass. seat is Annie.

I'm waiting until i can get some seat covers for mine before i can let the dog in the X. Yellow Lab + dark seats = unhappy passengers thereafter.

I'm probably going to get the set on xterraparts.com. for the rear seats. I'll post pics when he's finally allowed in =)
