Damn, with all the freight charges to Alaska, I could have bought another Xterra!!!!!

First let me tell you that truck freight sucks on delivery times, UPS and FEDEX Charge way too much, and USPS just plain Sucks!!!

Ok, just curious what is it do you do for a living, how long did it take to get it to present and how do you get your wife to let you buy all the toys.

I figure either Im real poor, my wife is super practical or I just "sell" my hobby to her.

No need to answear the qestions its just every time I bring up things I want for my X a fight insues.

We need a support group or somthing for poor balles chaps like me.

I drove the X home from the dealer in July 2003,
I was not going to do anything to it, just leave it stock, I used my Toyota for 4weelin, river crossings, glacier trips and so on, I was out on a camping trip and saw an X with some light mods and asked the wife it I could build the X, her reply was "only if you upgrade my wedding ring"

Ok, $4000 dollars later the ring is blinding me, but I got the ok for the Xterra.

I ordered everything on line one night and have been working on this for 1 week, all of the parts have not arrived yet, still back ordered, intransit, or being made, as in the Shrockworks rock bars and the rear diff skid plate from Automotive customizers.

No I am not rich, but I do have a well paying job.

The hardest part of doing these mods, was running out of beer.....

I'll tell you guys two things.

One: Most women do not understand the value of a modified vehicle to a man. They see it as transportation. Transportation that for any reason other than a point A to point B trip is to be completely ignored.

Two: Women do not understand the costs associated with a modified vehicle. A normal car tire - $60 -70 dollars. Does she NEED to know that your tires were $135 apiece? No.

Normal car shocks are 25-40 bucks. Did she need to know that mine were $250 each? No. Why? It doesn't matter. Why complicate things? She wouldn't undestand anyways.

You need to establish a slush fund. Your slush fund is made up of your gambling money, beer money not used and other assorted cash that you may accrue over the course of the year. Now that you have your slush fund to pad your purchases, you are able to justify paying X number of dollars from the household account for a mod because you are not dinging the account for the entire ammount.

You are padding the purchase with the slush fund.

It makes things a lot more palatable. Trust me. I'm driving arround the $40,000/$25,000 X !

No, dont need another one, UPS has a delivery date of monday, 03-14-05,

Thats how second day service works here, you pay for it, and they fly it here, but UPS tells you that it's truck freight.

So it sits at their terminal here in Anchorage for a week before they deliver, and you cannot go pick it up.

Cool X and it's nice to have a guy from Alaska around here. I've only been up there a couple of times, but I absolutely love it.

When you take trips up there make sure to bring the camera along and post the pics when you get back - shots of wheelin' in Alaska would be a nice change of pace around here.

We are having a weird winter, happens every few years.
It snows, then rains, then the temp goes up and down.
Real ugly.

It's nice to see a person who knows about Alaska.

If you call the FEDEX 800 number in Tenn, the people there will tell you that Alaska is a country that they dont deliver to, for a couple of reasons, first, they cant find it on a map, and second, because they dont take Alaska money.

HELLO PEOPLE, Alaska is a STATE, the 49th to be exact. And we use the US Dollar, also the Canadian dollar, they live next door.

It really is...simple, effective, all the right parts done in the right way...Great job...Oh...and if you get a chance...next time you go "glacier traveling" with the X instead of the Yota, make sure to take some pics...We have lots of pics of X's in the mud, X's in the sand, X's on the rocks, X's in the water....But don't think we've seen any pics of an X on a glacier...
