Make sure you hose out that radiator good. Clean that alternator too

i went to the dealership yesterday after work and a salesman actually asked me what color it was under the mud. i got the roof covered and everything. and the black showing in the last picture was covered shortly there after it was taken. it was the sami's maiden voyage, so we had to get it muddy.

Half way up the door speakers, and to the bottom of the clutch pedal. End result, fried alternator, and a tow back to long island from south jersey.. Doh! That was back before Alternators were available outside of the dealership.

Stinky Texas mud in the speakers and seats is a bad bad thing!

Here's one from B.C. Canada. Last time I do that... I ended up getting my control arm hung up on a small stump just about where this picture was taken, couldn't get going again, and had to get out in the crap to hook up a tow strap! I ended up more muddy than the truck I think! :rolleyes:

Yuck - you guys are nuts. Every last one of you. Call me a puss if you must, but I HATE MUD! Luckily this hatred is based upon experiences gained in work trucks and not my personal rig.

I never understood the snorkles on an Xterra, if your deep enough to need it wouldnt water be coming in the doors and ruin the electrical and ecu?

I've had mine choke out before just because of the continual splash of water/mud eventually soaks the filter. I think you could probably get something a bit better positioned in the engine bay than have to go all the way to a snorkel...

I've run across water deeper than my door seals and haven't had any water seep in - I think as long as you keep moving, you're good.

What he said about the Snorkel and it gives you cooler cleaner air when traverseing dusty dirty areas and not leading the caravan.

Besides we get a lot of "Questions" when fueling up

RULE # 1 : ALWAYS look cool

It's been shown here before, but it's a good one.



Axle

Unless you have been busy with a caulk gun. Also if you get "lucky" you can splash water into the intake. Short runs through deep stuff and you will be fine.

And as mentioned above cleaner air. I only have to clean the KN half as often now. Lastly its a natural cold air intake.

dont mean to keep getting off topic but where did you get that antenna? not the one on your hood but the one you replaced the stock one with.

that was my first mod the "stubby" antenna.. Checker Auto, maybe $8.99

I did learn to make sure all the seatbelts are inside the cabin before hitting the mud.

Proud, no. But it happened - I can't ignore history.
Well, I wasn;'t trying to go through it, I was trying to get around it. And I almost made it around. What happened was at the end of the pit, I got stuck. I couldn't go forward because I had two tires (one front, one back) in mud and two tires trying to go up over rocks at the same time

My mud tires spun, and when I tried to back up, the rear of my X slid towards my right putting me in the pit with really soft bottom mud.
And from there, I just bogged down and thiongs went from bad to worse...to terrible.

not as muddy as some but it was fun

This gave my friend's truck the nickname "Silver Submarine"



And yes, he had to replace his ECU.

Yesterday, I spilled some Pepsi in one of my drink holders.

I immediately took the holder out of the truck and washed it in my kitchen sink.

Found a little bit of the brown stuff left over in Big Bear this weekend after running parts of 3N08 and John Bull.

Didn't get a shot of the dirty side, only have the "clean" side, the emblem and my "Nissan mud star."

ECXC about 10 mins into the run at Paragon. Definately not my best stuck/aftermath pics but the worst ones i don't have pics of. Got out under my own power after realizing 3 windows were down and trashing my interior which still needs cleaned. lol

what size and/or type of tires are those?

I've got to give you credit though...everyone else would have just sat there, but you were right on it and got yourself out pretty damn quick...we had to wait on Robert for an hour and a half

Those are 31x11.5-16 Super Swamper LTB's.

I LOVE them. (and NO, I was not stuck in the first picture.)

LTB's are a great tire - but they dig quick if you do get stuck...

Those tires did great this past weekend.
I'd definitely recommend them.
Best of all, they are cheap and come in a 34x10.5
