Jeep Stuck......Xterra to the Rescue

Me and 7 of my friends(6 Jeeps, and a Durango)decided to go wheelin after school today. We had already crossed several icy mud holes on the trail. After about 30 mins, our leader( Jeep with 4" lift and Super Swampers) gets stuck: So what do a total of twelve high school seniors do...stand around untill someone takes control of the situation. Gentlemen, today, that someone would be me. What do you know... no rear tow point. So my friend tommy gets ready to go under. After a few tugs i pulled him out. And yes i was freezin my balls off in a t-shirt and shorts.

NICE!!! Is that a winch I see on your truck in one of those pics? And, if it is, why didn't you use it?

So did you show the jeep up and try the water/mud hole with your Xterra?

I usually think of a winch as more of a last resort when a tow strap won't do the trick. It usually takes a lot less time to hook up a strap and it's more safe than a winch. In that situation I would have gone for the strap too.

dude sweet pics, nice truck. i wish i had as much money as you when i was a high school senior... david BTW, even if you didn't go in that mud hole/baby marianis trench, good for you, intelligence is directly related to good judgement calls.

Thanks Guys,
Im sorry to say that, no i didnt forge the depths after the we pulled him out. Simply judging by the depth of the mud/water, 33"+. if i were to try it and either get stuck or slow down, the water would been higher than the bottom of my doors seams. i just didnt feel like dealing with 6" of water in my truck today. so we backtracked a little and we all went around.
Yes that is a winch on my truck, but like ChuckH said i consider it more of a last resort. Time, Safty and Equimpent use is always takin into consideration: 10 minite tow strap pull vs. 25 min winching w/ more equipment clean up
BTW we all consider ourselfs to be very lucky, to be so well funded that is. most of us do have part time jobs that we throw every penny we make into our trucks. forget wasting it on High School girls, jk.
This kind of stuff happens to us all the time, we normally have someone stuck once every 2 weeks or so. i just got a digital camera, so i'll keep you guys posted on our little adventures.

Yeah, where is that trail? I live near Centreville and wouldn't mind knowing of a place near by where I can get the truck dirty.
