I have had a MasterPull line on my winch (warn xd 9000) for the last year and a bit. The main reasons that I wanted it were:
1- Safety 2- Much easier to handle I'm a climbing so dealing with rope seems more natural 3- The Hook is much beefier and locks to the tow point
It is also much lighter but did not know this until I bought it.
I contacted Warn to see why they do not recommend synthetic lines and they replied that it will cause the motor to over heat due to the insulation of the line. I have yet to have a problem and have used my winch a bunch of times.
It is also expensive so treat it well. I have a rope brush and make sure to clean my line every once in a while with water. Helps get the mud and dirt out.

Reply from an XJ owner
I read this and registered just to reply (BTW-- "Xj" is not a new Nissan-- it's a cherokee ;-) )
anyway, Cudos to the Xterra guy that winched out the XJ-- although we all poke fun at each other (IFS? c'mon), we should all be willing to help others out, and be grateful when we get help. Jeeps are not indestructable, nor are Xterras. Everyone gets stuck once in a while.
Anyway, just letting you guys know that jeepers aren't all jerks.

Just a quick visit from JU. I too agree that there are assholes on the trails out there, and I would not care who or what pulls me out if I get stuck. I am always glad to help anyone on the trails. That's what most of us go out for......enjoying a driving challenge and seeing beautiful views. You are always going to have a couple of bad apples from time to time.
Just my .02 --Jeeps--

Assholes are assholes, no matter what they drive. We should try and help each other out on the trails no matter the rig. It's just common courtesy. If I have my way, this X of mine will have some Jeep parts installed very soon, don't know what I'll call it then...but I hope somebody would give me a hand any way.

I know this is late, but I've just gotta jump in here for a second. I'm an ex-jeep owner, actually several times over, and just recently sold my 2nd jeep, which was an 83 Jeep CJ7. It literally almost made me cry to sell it, but it goes that way sometimes. Anyway, I was a member of a jeep club, and had my CJ stocked with mods that could allow me to climb straight up a tree. It was a lot of fun. I was by no means hardcore, and I always just enjoyed the tread lightly motto. BUT, most of the jeep owners I knew WERE very hard core and arrogant about some things. And when stuck, they would be so hard headed, they would rather leave their jeep stuck rather than getting winched out by anything other than another jeep. So when I saw this picture I BUSTED out laughing!! I've found that X's are VERY capable of doing anything jeeps can, and I have a new found respect for X's after owning one. I can imagine that Jeep owner being rude, and it doesn't surprise me. He's probably getting ripped on by his hardcore junkie friends as we speak. BUT, you can bet that he went home after running the trail, put a For Sale sign on his rig, and is more than likely running over jeeps today in his X! I personally don't care about what others drive on the trail, just as long as they're out there. And even if they're concrete bound, I don't care either...who am I to judge a person? I think it's great though that there are X owners that are willing to help out others in time of need....whether the other person is in another X, a volkswagon, or a...dare I say it...JEEP.

Ah, I'm immune to it now. Besides, I didn't drive up/on the tree you're referring to Carlton :p No sense beating a dead horse ya know...
That tree didn't lose a scrap of bark. That truck had dual lockers, 2 transfer cases, and an amazing crawl ratio.

Brent But if he pushed it over on accident then you see the trail shut down soon after. I'd rather not risk it, some people say that they go off trail is to make it more challenging, I say if you want something more challenging then DO A DIFFERENT TRAIL.
I don't know, I think being able to drive up trees is pretty hardcore! [/QB]
Hee hee. Being able to drive up a tree and actually doing it are two different things. I love mods, and I really enjoyed beefing the old jeep up. But when it came down to it, I wasn't about flexing, showing off how verticle I could get, or anything like that. I was just about having a good time out in nature with my friends. I wanted my jeep to be capable of doing things if it came down to having to do it on a trail for reality purposes. The last thing I wanted was to be on a trail with busted axles, crappy tires, poor suspension, low clearance, etc. I put a lot of blood, tears, and sweat into it, but unlike a lot of jeeps (and jeepers), I never considered myself "hardcore," more like "capable." It was a beefy jeep, but probably the ugliest dog on the trail. All I care about is having fun, being respectful, and staying away from those that ridicule others based on their rig.
