This just pisses me off (enough to make a thread of it). This situation just reminded me of the famous "Charlie Wenzel" on Pirate.

The short story:
This guy offers to sell some 31" BFG AT's (5 of them) for $200 w/ 8,000 miles on them. Since the buyer can't get all the way down to pick them up (from PA to NC) we (VAXC) line up a couple people to make the delivery. The 2 of us offer to deliver the tires for free (no gas money), yet the seller (who has to drive the least amount of distance) tells the buyer that it will be an additional $50. $250 for 5 good tires still isn't a bad deal. Everything is set up, then the a$$ goes and trades them in, the day before he was to deliver them. Luckily no money changed hands. He had been trying to sell these tires since October 24th. I think this is just a rotten thing to do.

If he PM'ed the buyer before he went through with the trade and the buyer said OK'd the deal like he claimed, it doesn't sound THAT bad and he's not the only dick in this situation. If he made that part up, then yeah... that's pretty bad. I'd be pisssed too.

On most boards, like our MXO, if someone screws another they get banned.

Even though the money hasn't changed hands, it's still not a cool thing to do. If there was a deal then there was a deal.

If he really PMed the buyer - then I don't see any foul. It's not like he drove the 2 hours to get there and then BAM - No deal. He gave advance notice - even if it may not have been 24hrs - at least it sounded like he gave it before they started heading for the big meet.

I already appologized to the memember who was going to buy my tires... I never accepted ANY Money from that member... so i dont understand the problem i did? Its ok.

and when did you PM him, yesterday, a lot of notice. the delivery was s'posed to be TODAY.

I have done a lot of dealing online (nothing X related yet) and have had mostly good transactions. I do have to say, it sounds like the seller really didn't think through the deal before agreeing to it and when he realized he could get a better deal else where, he took it. My stance on on-line trading, once a deal is made, stick with it. If you don't follow through, it always looks bad on the person who broke the deal (be it the seller or buyer). Sure, there is no legal binding contract or anything, but when all is said and done, you don't want to burn too many bridges.

Yep, asshat. If you make a deal with someone, you don't back out because you can make an extra $50. That shows poor character. It isn't that big a deal it seems, just remember it in the future when you deal with people.
