I am on this narrow two lane road just after a hard rain and I notice that I have a nice shiny new BMW right on my ass (and I was going the posted speed limit)

So this moron is riding my ass for about a mile or so when an interesting thing happens...

I am coming up to an intersection and because I am not tailgating the car in front of me I notice that there is a rather large (8"+ dia) log that is in the middle of our lane. The cars in front of me are all going out of their way to avoid hitting this log. Remember that BMW that is tailgating me??? I sure do.. And so I drive right over it and do not so much as hit a skid plate..

Not the case for Mr I want to sniff your tailpipe.
He hits it dead on (does not even have enough time to try to avoid it) He proceeds to have the front end of his car lifted off the ground and is stuck in the road as I continue on.. Now cars are going around him because he is stuck..

What a wonderful day it is...

Great story! I've had more than my share of tailgaters, and one of these days I want to do the same thing that you did, only with a skunk! (just my luck, it will pop it's head up just as I was passing over it - clunk!)

Fortunately nobody was hurt or at least that is what we think. What about our insurance claims that go up because he had an accident. You didn't say that you attempted to get him off your back while he was tailgating you. Did you attempt anything other than helping to damage his car. Now if he would have rearended you then that would have been his help but you helped to damage his car. Nice job. You must be so proud.

For the record, I was rearended once by an SUV. The Land Rover did not drive away. Thank God no was hurt in that accident. Just some sheet metal damage to my truck. However, I would never knowingly damage some other persons vehicle. What you did is the same as keying someones vehicle. This my opinion and I don't expect you to agree.

That brings back "fawn" memorys of when a motorcycle was riding a bit to close to my back side on the interstate. I strattled a fresh gooy looking pile of lasts nights deer, and he did not.

I was impressed that he did not lay the bike over after that speed bump.

i was an almost identical situation.
but instead of a log, it was a random car tire. and instead of a bmw tailgating me, it was some dropped truck with a body kit.
phew, if there was ever a reason not to drop a truck, it was then.

Is everyone up north cranky. How on earth did Carlton help him damage his car. The guy was tailgating him and thus was unable to see the danger ahead as he was to close to carlton. Carlton had the ability to drive over the obstical and it was probably safer to do so than to swerve so he did and the dipshit behind him hit it because he was on his ass. Why should I or anyone else have to look out for other peoples cars? Why should carlton have to try to get this guy off of his ass before the damage? Seriously I do not see you point at all?

Why not just pull over to the right and let the jerk pass? Your threshold for revenge is pretty low, huh?

Had he been obeying the law and not tailgating me he would have seen the log and slowed and avoided it. It is not my job to look out for other drivers who are doing stupid things. Think of sort of like Darwinism for cars.

Sure it would have been "nice" of me to warn him. But I did not see the need to warn him because by his actions he seems to have some of those lightning fast reflexes.. Why else would he be that close to my bumper??

And you are correct.. I do not agree with your opinion.. but we knew that already :-)
