I'm beginning my search for a trailer, we love our X, but need more room(dog takes up rear area, and we may someday find rugged enough friends for the back seat...). Something like an old jeep trailer would be good, high clearance, not real big or hard to handle, even by hand when the going gets tough. any ideas on where to look? Ebay has some jeep trailers, but the idea of shipping one from cross country is prohibitive, I'm in central Ca and am willing to travel the state or possibly NV or AZ to tow home. Thanks for any ideas. MV

Ruger1022, Heh, nice rifle...I don't have a Ruger, but a friend does. We haven't been out shooting in a while, but I remember that as a nice rifle. As far as Jeep trailers, if you mean the old surplus trailer that you often see behind MBs or M151s, they are called the M100 trailer if memory serves. You can probably find one here but keep in mind a nice one will be pricey, could be a grand or so. The other thing to keep in mind is that it might come with the NATO style pintle hitch, which isn't compatible with the XTerra class 3 hitch. I have seen some with a class 3 ball adapter. One other caveat. For my rover, I'm going to build a trailer...ha, once I get around to it...I have a spare axle casing, spindles and hubs. My goal is to have the trailer use the same wheels as the truck...I'm already up to my ears in tires and rims and don't want another oddball size in the garage. Just another thing to keep in mind. Thanks. that tentrax looks real nice, but judging by the prices I'll not be buying one real soon. I'm ok with the tent on the ground, but a small trailer built for offroad like that is gonna be a must have. I see old jeep trailers around, but each one has to be looked over individually as co nditions vary. I may just go see if some high school metal shop kids need a good project... MV

FWIW, the tent is an option/accessory. It's possible to just get the trailer, but agreed very spendy.

I've always had a trailer on my list of Tonka mods to build, but one like that for that price would make me reconsider.
I really like it and it would be a great platform to start welding on all the trailer mods I would want.

Thanks for all the help. Some really nice stuff out there, but I don't see myself shelling out 3-4 grand for some of those really nice ones. That Canadian surplus one sounds great. I'll have to see what the real out the door-to CA price ends up being(I suppose I should check to see if it would be legal here, damn near everything else isn't...). I'm also planning to look into the harbor frieght kit idea as a starting point to making my own. Any one tow off-road? any unexpected pitfalls I should prepare for? Ordered K&N filtercharger yesterday, will install this week( shhh... it's not Ca street legal....) hope it helps give the power to tow. MV
