I have recently returned from a wheeling trip in east Texas, where my silver paint was subjected to several narrow trails, and in turn, lots of tree branches (small stuff) dragging down the sides of my truck. There are quite a few surface scratches that seem to wipe off for the must part, but there are still many shallow and very fine scratches all over. What do you use on your paint? I have GS27 but haven't applied it yet...wanted to see what the rest of the X community was doing.

Thanks
Michael

I just make sure I have a good coat of wax on before each trip. The dealer gave me a bottle of the Nissan polish when I bought my truck and I have been very happy with it.

Hey Michael. After being a detailer for several years and still doing it on the side for some Xtra cash. The only thing I could do is repeat what has been said already by Mobycat. Any good wax will take care of the "surface scratches". If you have anymore car/truck care questions send me an email. I'll be glad to help in any way possible.

You might want to try a light "polishing" wax - which will remove some swirls and light scratches. Then apply a nice, normal finishing wax when you're done. I've used Mother's and Meguiar's waxes with great results. Tiny hairline scratches and swirls disappear and the paint looks incredible.

Don't get too ambitious and get a "compounding" type wax, which is grittier and has more "bite." This stuff is great for older cars with oxidized paint and certainly removes the heavier scratches - but I'd use it as a last resort and certainly not too often.

The meguiars product line is by far the best I have ever used, I even had a scratch that some jealous A-hole had keyed into my X but The wax/polish combo made it disappear. They also have a swirl mark remover that I havent used but it may be worth trying.

I too have used the meguiars 3 step process. Seems to do a good job. I will keep using it.
