How long do you usually spend at the slabs when you go out there?

I've never spent that much time down there, mainly because I've never gone with a group... that and my mom only lives 20 minutes away... but I haven't gotten to go too far back and explore much, so I'm looking to spend quite a bit of time out there testing my winch and snorkel , since after Jan 1 I'll never get to go back... somebody'll have to bring a camera for sure...

I'd be game for the slabs.

I thought the Barnwell trip was the 22nd because of Superlift and it's expense on the 14th-16th.

The Slabs on the 15th is good but that is quite a bit further for John.

If I am correct I want to do both...

Oh...I'll bring beer alright! I should just need to fix steering (today) And get my driveshaft from binding up(needs a good cleaning), and I'll be good to go!

I'll be at the slabs for sure... Barnwell is probably out because of money and the boss lady isn't letting me take any more weekends off...

gary has 2wd? i only have 2wd locked. i love to wheel though. so, those with 4wd has to be patient wuth us and i need spotters cause i am a newbie.

a 2wd locked is LOTS better than a 2wd... you can probably get around mucho better. I usually use a spotter too....

Hell... it's probably better than my 4 anything-but-locked.

Hopefully once I get the rattle can paintjob update, I'' slap an XOC sticker on there. I'm sure everyone will love that!

2wd-locked is mucho better than 2wd, but there are very few situations when 4wd (w/lsd or open) won't out do it. Gotta love the fact that you're making the 2wd more capable though.

I'm not trying to turn this into a 2wd 4wd thread! I love all trucks(except the izuzu hombre).

me, herk, and gary were going to stay over Saturday night and camp. I was hoping we could get some night runs in as well on easier trails

I'm probably going to go up Friday night, again and camp both nights. Going to try to leave Dallas around 5 - 5:30ish. Maybe later,if somebody wants to caravan.

I want to say 10, but i really have no idea why I think that. Just a number that came to mind. Might be later.

They will not lock the gates on Friday or weekend nights... just look us up to camp. You can pay and register Sat morning when they open back up. I have arrived after midnight and no problems.

cool then we will probably leave around 9pm on Friday night..

Angry jeep was the first trail I took, and it was dark, and I was alone. What more fun could a person ask for. I'll keep my frs on channel 5 ( I think that's the norm) if anybody gets there late and needs help making it down.

Keep in mind that it has a habit of icing up right around Thanksgiving...

I think everyone's looking around at the nice weather and planning to camp - but it could very easily be BUTT cold on Nov. 22.

That usually doesn't stop me.. (I HATE to let the weather interfere with my plans) - but I wanted to mention it.

John, I will stay on CB and FRS.... 5 will have handheld if you need one.

I'll be lookin forward to seeing you all the 22nd of November. Don't know as of yet if I'm going up to Barnswell Mountain on Friday night or Saturday morning.........but I had plan on staying for Saturday night.

Took the Jeep for it's first drive for more than 100 yds yesterday. Got a few issues I've got to work out. Who'd of thought a jeep on 39's wouldn't be to stable @ 45mph?

Anyone want to help choose the new rattle can color for it? Right now it's blue/red/rust color which I like to describe as MS camo.

Hey OutlawX... a bunch of guys are heading out to Kingsland slabs on the 15th, and you're more than welcome to join... it's a LOT closer than Barnwell, just over an hour away... there is no cost out there, except for gas and food... should be a good time, and you can meet several other local X owners... you can get more info of the AC board post, HERE. I've just recently been anointed in the X-owners club by purchasing an '03 2wd SE. I would love to join sometime on your offroad adventure. I'm not Sure if I can make Barnwell, but I'll try if I have it back in time (I wrecked it Friday after owning it for a week with only 482 miles on it )
I'm in Houston, so if there are anyother Housterrans out there, let me know!
I may drive my rentaheap up and meet with everyone anyhow. I'm sure someone might have an empty passenger seat for the good rides.

That story is in newsletter Volume V Issue I which came out in Feb 2003. (I know you did not know that, but I felt my very first shameless plug was in order )

If you look at the pic, you will see he is only being held in place by a small section of his front tire, and a small section of his slider. If that slider was not there... mucho rollage.

i ended up here cause i like to wheel and this pass summer, a bunch of us wheeled with a buncj of u guys,,,(darkman). i dont lke to wheel with people who has more capable rigs and dont like to show the newbies the fun of wheeling, especially a 2wd.
wheeling is fun when people in front of u help spot.... not "ok... keep going".

That's good enough for me. As long as you like to wheel and have fun.
