It's all bullshit, the government needs to regulate it like the phone and cable companies like in 1970's and 1980's.

An interesting thought it to boycott their GAS.

Every time you fill up the car, you can avoid putting more money into the coffers of Saudi Arabia. Just buy from gas companies that don't import their oil from the Saudis.

Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill-up the tank, I am sending my money to people who are trying to kill me, my family, and my friends.

I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil companies are the best to buy gas from and which major companies import Middle Eastern oil:

Shell............................. 205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco......... 144,332,000 barrels
Exxon /Mobil............... 130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway... 117,740,000 barrels
Amoco............................62,231,000 barrels

If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18 BILLION!

Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:

Citgo.......................0 barrels
Sunoco...................0 barrels
Conoco...................0 barrels
Sinclair.....................0 barrels
BP/Phillips..............0 barrels
Hess........................0 barrels
ARCO......................0 barrels

All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing.

Return the favor, boycott their gas.
Hey andrew h,

Just wanted to let you know that BP and Amoco are the same company, as well as Conoco and Phillips are the same company.

as far as gas prices go, you only hear about the cost of gas where they want to tell you from, here in Anchorage the cost is about the same as across the country, I pay between $2.20 to $2.40 a gallon, depends on the station, but you go outside of Anchorage and you start working your way up to $5.00 a gallon. Higher the farther out you go like the villages around the state.

Thinking about it Gas is not going up, the dollar is going down. One more tax cut for the rich and our deficit will make Euros worth $2.

$2.47 for regular unleaded. Ah, the breaks of living in Hawaii. Then again, when most of you poor fools are freezing to death, I'm in my trunks out surfing. [ThumbsUp]

I was agreeing with you that it should be taken humorously. Maybe you could read my post while your quoting it. [Finger]

$2.29 here in Louisville. It was at $2.35, but dropped yesterday.

A radio station did a promo last week, though... Had a gas station in town sell for $1.03 for 1 hour. They emptied their tanks in that amount of time.

$2.08 yesterday where I am in Virginia (though if I drive 10 miles away, it's $2.33).

I just don't get why diesel and biodiesel aren't picking up more press.

I live two hours north of San Francisco and right now the shell station is $2.85 for 87 octane. And .10 more for each higher octane level.$3.04 for super. Outrageous!!!

I live near a safeway grocery store with a gas station. The regular unleaded there is $2.19, yet a block a way, a "regular gas station" is $.10 more per gallon. In addition, I get an ADDITIONAL $.06 off each gallon w/my safeway card.

So... I'm getting regular for $2.13, when it's $2.29 a block away... and am curious how that works. Does Safeway (or any major store w/a gas station attached - Walmart, King Soopers, etc) just give up their gas profits on the gas and use it as a customer draw?? (It worked on me). I feel kind of bad for the neighborhood gas station a block away... but hey... but that's a few bucks per tank I'm saving.

Kind of the same dilemma between heading to Home Depot vs. my neighborhood True Value store, which is always more expensive. I like to support the little guy, but saving $$$ is hard to argue with sometimes.

It's up to $2.31/gallon on average for regular in Mesa, AZ. I was watching the news and they reported a story of a gas station in some remote part of California. The gas is $3.79/gallon for regular unleaded. The gas station owner was saying he pays a premium for gas because it is so difficult to truck it in.

Our local prices (Alabama) just dropped a few cents yesterday, and one more today, from $2.15 to $2.12 to $2.11. I put $15 in to get me around this weekend. Thought I might play the market for Monday.
