I keep hearing all about the average, two days ago they said San Fransisco was the nations highest at $2.53... This after our local prices went to $2.55...
Today, one of the lower priced stations was at $2.59, $2.69, and $2.79. I don't want to think about what Chevron and Texaco and the like are charging.

Alabama. Cheapest stations just today lowered their price to $2.129 a gallon. I think I might have seen one station doing a ballsy "mini-gas-war" at $2.099. Typical price right now, for the most part, is about $2.159 a gallon. What really galls me is that it now costs me about $0.43 a day to drive to work and back.

$2.35 here in Cumberland WI, but if I drive 30 miles to MN I can find it for $2.08. Time to get the 86 Chevy Sprint (50 mpg) out of the shed and drive it for a while and only use the X for longer trips. Between that and the Honda CB1100 I should be good for a while. Tom

Unleaded Regular has gone up 20 cents in the last 5 days here in So. California... One Chevron in town is getting $2.59 the other thief is charging $2.89. and Arco is $2.49. We have no attendants at stations here you pump your own and pay the robber inside wearing the mask.

$2.19 - $2.25, depending on where in town (Austin) I am. The 700-mile road trip this weekend is going to suck!

I don't understand how the stations get away with raising the price when the fuel is already in the ground and paid for at a given price. Logic tells me that it would be the next shipment at a higher price would be when they raise it ,but I see them do it all the time before the next truck shows up . It really starts to hurt when your commute is 86 miles round trip.

Take a look at this, its from an email a friend of mine sent me
The Saudis are boycotting American goods.
We should return the favor.
An interesting thought it to boycott their GAS.
Every time you fill up the car, you can avoid putting more money into the coffers of Saudi Arabia. Just buy from gas companies that don't import their oil from the Saudis.
Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill-up the tank, I am sending my money to people who are trying to kill me, my family, and my friends.
I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil companies are the best to buy gas from and which major companies import Middle Eastern oil:
Shell............................. 205,742,000 barrels Chevron/Texaco......... 144,332,000 barrels Exxon /Mobil............... 130,082,000 barrels Marathon/Speedway... 117,740,000 barrels Amoco............................62,231,000 barrels
If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18 BILLION!
Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:
Citgo.......................0 barrels Sunoco...................0 barrels Conoco...................0 barrels Sinclair.....................0 barrels BP/Phillips..............0 barrels Hess........................0 barrels ARCO......................0 barrels
All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing.
Return the favor, boycott their gas.

$2.45/gal this morning at the Costco Gas station in Azusa (SoCal Area)... Needless to say, this was the very first $40+ refuel for my X... OUCH!!! But then again, I shouldn't have waited until it was at the "E" marker on the gas gauge!!! - Air B

Some fun facts that fit this topic:
Think a gallon of gas is expensive? This makes one think, and also puts things in perspective.
Diet Snapple 16 oz $1.29 ........ $10.32 per gallon Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz $1.19 ...........$9.52 per gallon Gatorade 20 oz $1.59 ...... $10.17 per gallon Ocean Spray 16 oz $1.25 . $10.00 per gallon Brake Fluid 12 oz $3.15 . $33.60 per gallon Vick's Nyquil 6 oz $8.35 .... $178.13 per gallon Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85 ..... $123.20 per gallon Whiteout 7 oz $1.39 ......... .. $25.42 per gallon Scope 1.5 oz $0.99 .......$84.48 per gallon And this is the REAL KICKER... Evian water 9 oz $1.49..........$21.19 per gallon?! $21.19 for WATER - and the buyers don't even know the source. (Evian spelled backwards is Naive.)
So, the next time you're at the pump, be glad your car doesn't run on water, Scope, or Whiteout, or Pepto Bismal or Nyquil.

An interesting thought it to boycott their GAS. I wish this were true!!! But alas... it's not (as is the case w/most forwards). Snopes.com is a good place to check this kind of stuff out. See this article . If it were true, I'd be all over it...

The average here for 87 octane in western PA is $2.20-$2.22
For some reason, the Sunoco up the street is 4-5 cents cheaper than everyone else in the area BP, Costco, Get Go, etc.
Yesterday it was $2.15 there.

Most people will never use 20 Gallons of any of these products as quickly as they would burn through 20 gallons gas. And 84.48 for a gallon of Scope? I just bought a gallon for 8 bucks at Costco.

If anybody does 15MPG with Pepto Bismol, that's one hell of an indigestion.

Yes and I wasnt trying to say your post was stupid, but I have heard people use that rationale to make you 'feel better' about gas prices.
It would be nice if whatever product we used instead of petroleum, could be bought from other Americans.
