I've been looking for a waterproof wire connector... What I am trying to do is to add a ground wire for my CB antenna on the roof. From talking to some people, the problem that I'm having with my CB is because my antenna is not securely grounded. So, I'm trying to figure out how to add a ground wire to it, but I need it to be waterproof (since it's outside), and easily disconnectable.

Does anyone know of a wire connector that I can use for this application?

If you're just trying to ground your antenna, just use a solderless ring terminal secured to a suitable ground with a bolt.

If your roof rack isn't grounded very well, then you need to run a ground wire from your roof rack to a grounded source elsewhere in the truck (such as down the rear hatch into the cargo area).

Well, the thing is our roof rack is a aluminum (sp?), so it's just a place to mount an antenna bracket. I guess I have to have a non-ground type antenna or to have a wire for the ground. Since my fiberglass antenna seems to need a ground, I need to connect the wire to the body...That's not the problem part.

I drive into garage...at least once or twice a week, and go through car wash as well. I want to be able to remove the antenna effortlessly, instead of just folding down. That's why I'm looking for a connector for easy connecting/disconnecting. Waterproof part is just a plus since the wire is outside of the truck... [Freak]

Aluminum is an electrical conductor, so as long as it's grounded to the rest of the chassis, you can use it. For the quick disconnecting part, all you need is one of these:

I bought mine at Fry's in Sunnyvale. It was about 20 bucks. Since I rarely use my CB, I just keep the antenna strapped to one of my roof rack rails, and when I need it I just unstrap it and press it onto the quick disconnect, and I'm ready to go.
