Hey....what do you think about the Valvoline Synthetic gear oil? I acually found some at Kragen today for $5.99 a quart....and it was actually 80W-90 as the manual recommends? Good deal? How would that compare to Royal Purple?

Thanks

I think I have seen some synthetic gear oil in Kragen, too... I have been using synthetic blend, though... I change my ATF every year (maybe about 18,000 miles or so?), and every 30k miles for diff oil.. I'm sure full synthetic would be better, but I haven't seen any problem with synthetic blend, yet.

I've read on other car forums that valvoline's synthetic lines are not that good, take it w/ a grain of salt though. I use mobil 1 but I have heard good things about royal purple and amsiol (sp?)

I am thinking about going with the Valvoline synthetic blend.....because it is still rated good for extreme load and heat situations.....plus it is the only thing I can find in the exact weight that is specified for the X (80W-90).

Not to mention it is about half the cost of the pure synthetics that I can't seem to find in the right viscocities. Even though I very tempted to go with the Mobile 1 synthetic eventhough it is at 75W-90....Huey has been running that viscocity with great results for 30k miles.

I don't know I am still on the fence....gonna mill on it over the weekend.
