Just can't get enough BRT? Well, come on then... I'll be going in Friday morning, the 17th and can meet anyone who wants to join..or I'll meet you at Loope at 11:00 Sat the 18th. Hopefully, we'll get a bit of rain to raise the river which will only help the already good fishing. Of course any kind of extreme weather will scrub this trip. PS If any of your ladies want to join in, my wife will...she just doesn't like being the only lady in the group.

I'm definitely in, tentatively, that is... Depends if something crops up needing attention at home.... I'll have a better idea in 1-2 wks. Also, I don't like waking up @ 5:30 in the morning to drive for 5 hours on road & another 3 hours off road. So, I might consider going Friday after work (yes, BRT in the dark a-la Andy). I dunno, though, I'm not 100% confident in my ability to do this (more like 85% confident). Also, I'll try to convince my GF to skip out on work that weekend...but not too confident on that one either.

Hey Olebiker,
Count Me In...But I'd rather try "Deer Valley" on this trip...I've never been!
If you would like to caravan to the campground on Saturday Morning, let me know.
We can meet at the In-&-Out Burger just off the Rengstroff exit off Hwy 101 between 5AM to 5:15AM Saturday Morning!
LET ME KNOW!
------------------------- Sign Ups For Barney Riley ------------------------- 1- Olebiker/Leaving Fri morning, Camping, Returning Sunday! 2- Xterrabull/Possibly leaving Fri after work, Camping, Returning Sunday! 3- KaiOtiK -aka- Andy/Leaving Saturday between 5AM & 5:15AM, Camping, Returning Sunday!

XTerraBull, could you be any more confident :p J/K I want to do this run some time but I am tied up until the end of November. Maybe next spring. I should post some pics of Race Track. There was a great river crossing there with a ton of native salmon running in it. Also a stock friendly run. We really should do a club event up in that area, there are so many trails to run. Have a good time.

River crossing? Salmon? Sounds great! Where/what is this place?

Nice little run down to the river. I'm curious though, the salmon, where they Kokanee? This is the Yuba river above Bullards Bar so they won't be ocean run salmon unless there is a tunnel (which there is but not to this section) around the lake.

The BRT trip would mark the 4th weekend of wheeling in a row for me (going to Moab the next two weekends--woohoo!), but I really want to do this run if you guys don't mind me tagging along.

I'm interested in going. I don't know many of you, is this group family freindly? I want to bring my wife and possibly our 7 year old girl, but I don't want us to be in a drunken party scene.

We're mature adults! I've never seen anyone act other than in a civil manner. I, and my wife, would like to see more involvement with the ladies.

Great, sounds good to us! We plan to leave Friday around 4:00 or so and drive up to the end of the dirt road at least and camp wherever I decide I am not comfortable wheeling in the dark. I'll try to reach you on the CB when we get onto the dirt road. What channel will you be using? Would somebody leave one on for me? No reason, I just want to say hi, we're here, and let you know we'll try and catch up to you all (early) in the morning. I know the group usually uses FRS which I do have, but I think we'll be further than the 2 (or less) mile limit on those things.

I don't know what your experience is wheeling or the mods on your truck. But, you might want to consider taking the second 190A to the left and camp before the first real hill climb. It's about two miles in. Also, I would strongly suggest getting a good map and follow it closely. It is easy to get lost out there. We'll monitor CB13 and FRS 7 sub 1. There are others coming up Fri afternoon as well. Maybe you could coordinate with them and come in together. We'll meet the rest Sat at 11:00

Thanks, my experience wheeling is good enough to give it a try and camp wherever I give up. The truck is setup well enough: 2" rear lift, 1.25" torsion lift, ARB bumper, sliders, 31" AT's... My navagation skills however are such that I will most likely get lost in the daylight, so night time will be hopeless. I did print out the PDF map from the last post that you left for Andy, and with my compas, I might be able to do it, that is if I don't fall asleep first. XterraBull, Andy, you guys wanna caravan in together? I'm going to ask my boss if I can leave at 4:00 and go straight from work (Sunnyvale). We could meet somewhere near 237/Lawerence Xpwy.

Man I have been trying to make it to one of these BRT runs for over a year now, but been tough with the new baby. I think I heard someone said this trail is stock friendly? Also, I was wondering if anyone is interested in going up early Saturday, and leaving early Sunday? I would even be interested in a early in late out on Saturday. But me down as a tentative because I would have to try and call in some serious favors from the significant other to pull this off.

Last trip we had two stockers and a couple of lifted rigs with bigger tires who made it just fine..there is one section that pushes the limits a bit, but everyone made it after a bit of gentle coaxing...and no damage.

Very true Gary. But to be fair... the guys with 3" lifts and 32" tires needed coaxing too.

Okay, I'm still tentative here...depends on how much I can get done this weekend...looking like about 50-50 right now. If I make it, I definitely want to leave friday night (from Fremont @ 5:30 or so) & go as far as I can safely go before making camp. I still hope to leave around 3:30 or 4:00, however I do need to drop my stepdaughter off in Stockton on the way (quick jaunt right off the freeway).

I'm taking the wife to a concert on sunday so it has to be a day trip. That's a little too far for a day trip. I am going wheeling though (probably)! My club is doing slickrock and deer valley on sat so I think I'm gonna do that. Have fun guys. If this is the last BR trip of the year, I'll try to catch up with you guys next year for BR.

I will be okay alone. Not exactly sure when I'm leaving yet, but I plan to hook up with Bob and Clarice either Friday night or early Saturday morning. And I don't have FRS, so I'll be using a C.B. How about channel 4?
Anyone have a small portable television that has RCA inputs? If so, I'll bring my Moab video from last week. We ran the hard stuff...Pritchett Canyon, Cliffhanger, Proving Grounds, etc.

Too much stuff to do at home & having a hard time justifying the gas money since I just got back from a long vacation (as in lots of humidity and fruity drinks w/umbrellas!). Since dry weather patterns are predicted for 1-2 wks I'm hoping to get another run somewhere in the Sierras before snow sets in (of course the only reliable weather forecast is ~24 hrs, so we'll see). Enjoy all, & take plenty of pictures!

Hey Olebiker,
Sure....I'll be there by 10AM.
I'll be on CB Channel 4 also...So if I get there early, I'll try to contact you by CB.
If I'm the only one arriving on Saturday, then I'll begin the trail from the trailhead, and meet up with you somewhere in the middle.
Maybe we can run some other trails up on top?
See you Saturday Morning...

Ken, those photos look good. So, there's LOTS more trails out there huh? It looks like you were pirched on the edge of a valley with dozens of acres of trails. We'll have to keep that area in mind for next season. I think I'm done for this year, but that is definitely an area I'd like to come back to and see in late spring.
Well, the trip was awesome, and except for a new rattle underneath (bent up exhaust pipe) everything is working like before.

I was wondering is Barney Riley a trail that requires lockers? I noticed on some of the pictures descriptions that you needed lockers on certain parts of the trail?
Thanks

There was one section of trail that I considered turning on the locker, decided not to and made it just fine. There's another section that was intimidating, so I didn't even try it open. But a locker is not required--Bob and Andy made it with just a little bit of work. Andy and Bob--just FYI, this is how you properly wire a CB antenna to a bumper:

So that's how it is supposed to be done huh? Where did you find the info? Did you wire it up already? How's the SWR rating?
