Those are some great links Dean, I'm actually liking this option better than the Bear Valley Loop trail. I'm going to leave up to a vote, but mine is going to the trails Dean mentioned as they could easily be on our route home and I've heard about that area and the great scenery there. BTW I'm voting for Baker PassBTW, anyone know who the two X's belonged to on that trip to Genoa Peak? This was before my time (long before I even knew about NCCX). Just curious...

If you think you can manage to get to Lake Tahoe area by 9:30 - 10 am or so, it can be a day trip... It's going to be a really long day for you, though...

I am up for a five trail. I ran some threes and fours over the weekend. Specifically NS 21, 26, and 25 and some of their spurs. NS 26 is rated as a 4. It was no problem. Most of it could have been run in 2WD. Any way, looking forward to this trip. Let's Wheel!

Let's Wheel! I think you are taling about trails from the book: Backcountry Adventures - Northern California? Corral Hollow OHV is rated as 5 in the book, and rated as 4 by Californiajeeper.com. So, if you use the Backcountry book to find a trail w/ some challenges, I think you need to go for trails rated 6 or higher. If you really want, we could hit NS 27 - 30...rated 5 or 6. I did think of going for Poker Flat OHV (rated 5), instead of Bear Valley Loop... I guess we haven't exactly decided what trail to hit on Sunday? ...Or, have we?

Baker Pass Loop Off of Sierra Nevada Byways by Tony Huegel LOCATION: In the Forest Service's Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit. West of Lake Tahoe, Hwy.89 and McKinney Bay. Links Tahoma and Idlewild.
HIGHLIGHTS: Pretty lakes and streams, waterfowl, mountains.
DIFFICULTY: Easy to moderate, with road conditions ranging from asphalt to graded dirt, loose rock and large mud holes.
TIME & DISTANCE: About 2.5 hours; 19 miles.
It sounds like a stock-friendly trail to me. Thanks John! for this book.

Hey guys long time. Sorry about being away for so long, also for flaking on the trip. Had some problems with the truck. I blew out my steering and a CV joint. Had to wait for like 4 weeks for the joint. It was backordered through Nissan. But now I have a brand new CV joint and a Calmini steering system. I would be down for the trip, but I'm really low budget at the moment. What would be the cheapest way to try and make it? Also how much do you think it can be done for (not including gas)?

I think I remember reading about someone on this board buying a new or rebuilt CV join from local auto parts store...like Autozone for about $100.. If it was available for Xterra, I'd think it should be for Frontier as well... Originally posted by But I'm Shiffy Too: But now I have a brand new CV joint and a Calmini steering system. I think not eating/buying any food is the cheapest way... Seriously...I'm not sure what you think is going to cost you other than gas and some food...

**** Important **** --Meeting spots-- Well since there will be traffic going toward Truckee and Reno I would like to avoid as much of HWY80 as possible. Also since some of us are comming from the south bay and others from the east bay I'm wondering if we met in concord it would be best? Let me know if you guys would like to take a different route, but here goes. Sat (9/27) -1st meeting spot 6:00 (I know it's early...) Pleasant Hill -Exit 680 @ Monument Blvd (make 1st right meet at the old Montgomery Wards parking lot), just look for the deserted department store building to the right of the freeway -Cont. on 680N -take 80N -take 50E to South Lake Tahoe -drive around the lake to Incline Village -Arrive hopefully between 10 and 11 Sun meet at the trail head for Baker Pass at 12 (Sorry Sonny, but it's going to be a long day for you... ) -@ Tahoma @ the OHV staging area see maps and info **Turn off Hwy89 @ McKinney Rubicon Springs Road (Tahoma) **Follow signs for Miller Lake **Cross Evergreen Way, follow OHV signs to McKinney-Rubicon Staging Area **we will meet there BTW, we can take a look at part of the Rubicon from here. Thanks Akio for posting that!

---Food--- We won't have time to stop for food on Sat morning, BUT Nissan is feeding us lunch (fingers crossed) and we could easily do a group dinner in Incline Village. So all you need to worry about is snacks and lunch for Sunday (which can easily be picked up sat night/sun morning). Don't forget to bring lots of water though. ---Camping--- I just realized that the camping spot is near South Lake Tahoe... Not a big deal, but will make for some driving around scenic Lake Tahoe.

Like Akio said, "It's just like a ski trip" . Since we're meeting at 12:00 noon, I can leave here around 7:00am or so. Anyone else up for it? ....

I believe Akio and I are going to leave from the South Bay (Rengstorff in-n-out) at 5am to meet Huey. Huey, do you think traffic on I-80 towards Truckee/Reno will be that bad at that time in the morning? Taking 80 is a lot quicker to get to Incline Village than 50. Sonny, just to clarify, the meeting location will be the SOUTHERN staging area (on the right side of the map below)

I think we can play it by ear once we hit 80 before 50.

We can get breakfast...if they are open that early... Or, maybe that's too early to eat...

Whats up with that? Frontiers are the same vehicle except for the truck bed. Now I'm pissed.
