NCCX Meet and Greet in Sacramento?

Hello all. This has been a long time coming but I am thinking about trying to get Sacramento area NCCX members together at the Natomas In and Out Burger...........if we can get a decent amount to show up.
Should be a good way to kick off the "Xcursion" season and talk about the upcoming trips. I was thinking about a Friday or weekend being the best time to get more people there with traffic around the city? I am also open to meeting during the week as long as we can get a good amount of folks to show up.
Input is welcome.
Thanks
Ryan

So far sounds like meeting on a Sunday in Natomas might be a leading candidate?

The one in Natomas, is that on Truxel and I-80? I think a sunday would be cool with me.

I am up for a meeting in Sacramento. I have been looking for an opportunity to meet the group and go on a trip. Weekends would be dependant on how my schedule goes. They seem to fill up fast. A Friday eve would probably be easier for me, except for the traffic getting out of town. Donald Downtown Sacramento

Sounds like a Sunday would be the best day.......May 15th is good if it gets the most amount of people out there.........I won't be able to make it that day though (will be in Yosemite) so I would rather do it a different day.....say May 7th? But I don't have to be there....what ever gets the most people. Also....we may want to consider heading out to Praire City OHVP (in Folsom, CA) after we eat if we are going to have people drive from over 1.5 hours away for this (aka Napa and Truckee) to make it worth their while? Nothing to organized or serious....go if you want to ..... or don't go if you don't? No pressure. Lets try this. May 7th, 2005 Sacramento Area Meet and Greet In n Out Burger (Sunrise Blvd and Highway 50) Noon Then after we eat head to Praire City OHVP for a couple hours give or take (it is not a very big park)? Here is a link to the OHVP and all info needed: http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=1221 If you have never 4x4 before then this would be a good chance to play around a little. Not to mention at the very least if we go on the 22nd I have a hi lift jack and tow strap to pull anyone out or myself out if we get stuck doing anything. Let me know now who can make the above and who would be interested? If that starts to not look like a good date I will pick another one to get the most amount of people out. Would love to get some members out there that have ALOT of 4x4 experience .... maybe a winch on hand to give a little imprompt lession on how to use the equipment....I know I would love to learn how. Thanks everyone for your input...hope we can get a good turn out. Ok...so here is the sign up for May 7th: -------------------------- 1. Slamson00 (In n Out and OHVP) Ryan (PS. Sorry I was thinking May 22nd but I know Huey is looking to go to Eagle Lakes that weekend)

Thanks Dave.....winch give me a little more confidence. One thing I know is you don't want to have to call a tow truck to come in the OHVP to help out....that would not be a cheap bill.

Yeah come on out ...... come one come all...........stay a little stay a lot its totally up to you. Come and go as you please. Prairie City is a smaller OHVP put it has the usual obstacle course stuff like Hollister OHVP............so there is definately something for everyone there no matter how daring or safe you want to be with you vehicle. Should be a good time just hope the weather holds out. I have been out there when it is REAL muddy....and Prairie City is famous for its "clay" mud. That stuff will fill up even some of the best mud treads. It made mince meat out of my stocker long trails.....I was lucky to get out of there without a friendly call to the local tow truck.

Hmmm, Salinas isn't all that close to Rancho Cordova, but if you're willing to make the drive north, we'd love to have you!

Everyone is coming up to sactown! But sadly I'll be at the ocean that day  Since it's mothers day weekend, we're flying out Gina's mom and she wants to go to the ocean on saturday. I guess I'll see everyone who goes on the eagle lakes run on the 22nd
have fun!

Good shoes! I've seen them on plenty of vehicles...I think Toyo makes them. I'm ending up with BFG AT K/O but in a D load rating this time--never do 17 or 18 inch rims if you can at all help it  Originally posted by Casper: Originally posted by CharlieT: [b]What kind of tires did you end up with?

What's the weather been like up in Sacto lately? It's been pretty wet here in the south bay. If it's been wet up at Prairie City, there's gonna be lots o' mud to ...uh... "play" in. (menolikemud)

Is this an outing that you guys want to cancel since it has rained up here in Sac for the last couple days? It should be really muddy up here....so if you want to still run out to Prairie city expect to get muddy to the nines (depending on how much you want to do of course).
Truthfully if there is something you don't feel comfortable doing I say just don't do it. I wont.....I don't plan on getting into that much just want to get out and hit the dirt a little.
What does everyone think? You all still in no matter what the weather?

Dean just doesn't like his truck all muddy! Afterall it is a luxo-mall-crawler with leather, heated seats, and wood grain interior.

I want to thank everyone that came out to the Sac Meet and Greet. Great to see a lot of new faces and some usual faces as well. I think Prairie City worked out to be a nice add on to the Meet and Greet.....has a little something for everyone. Oh and Dean thanks for falling on the sword (and mud) and sacrificing to hold up and defend the Nissan name. Much appreciated and a job well done. Hopefully next Sac meet and greet if people want we can combo it to Prairie City again. Thanks all and see you next time

Great meeting some other Xterra owners and seeing that not all are driven by soccer moms. Lots of nicely equipped X's. Sorry I couldn't go to Prairie City. We're doing the GBES Geocaching rally in Fallon, NV in 2 weeks and the Nevada Trophy Rally starting in Carson City and finishing in Lovelock in July. This was a worthwhile trip as I stopped at the Nissan salvage yard and picked up a roof rack crossbar to mount some lights on.It had to be from the only Xterra ever made with an orange roof rack. Great meeting you all. Woody

It was definatly a pleasure meeting all of you whom i hadn't met before, and great to see all of you whom i had. Prairie City was cool, I had a good time there! Now.... where are those pictures???? Thanks Ryan, for organizing a great event. We should do that again! I made a suggestion to Huey (i beleive it was) that Prairie City would be agreat place to hold a "4X4 101 " class/course. I definatly leared some things, if not by driving, watching! (Thanks Guys!). ok... the rambeling is done!!

I committed the cardinal sin- I drove through a big mud pit, which had the effect of converting my luxo-ute into a small dump truck. That is, I left half a dozen shovelfuls of Sacramento County soil in the gutter of my San Jose street. What took only 10 minutes to load up took 5 hours to "unload"!
Pics are still in my camera, waiting to be posted.

Yeah I have to agree....took about 2 hours for me to clean the inside of my engine bay of caked on mud after I plowed through the mud bog. But hey nothing a little elbow grease and an old tooth brush didn't fix. Still have yet to tackle the outside....waiting for the rain to subside here a little bit. Looking forward to some pics too since I forgot my camera as well.

OK, just a few pics here . The 4-minute-long movie I took of Matt in the mud pit is too big to post (535MB).

Nice pics Dean! How can I get a copy of that video? Here are some more pictures . I got some really strange looks while driving home, a group of people in a convertible were either amazed at my mud collection or else some mud fell off the Jeep and landed in their car. I dunno. - Matt

Probably the latter. I can burn you a CD of the movie. 640x480 30fps MJPEG AVI. 535MB. Our running commentary and snickers are pretty funny to listen to.
