I'm heading out that direction tomorrow and am wonderig if any of you know a place that rents socket. I received my Calmini steering system this week and am wanting to install it, but no place here has a socket big enough to remove the nut on the pitman arm for rent. Can anybody give me some help?

I think some of the auto parts stores will let you use equipment for free...though I don't know if you are required to buy something from them, or if they lend out something as small as a socket set.

The ones we have here in IN loan those out, but they didn't have a 40mm one.

Sears sells individual sockets - the most I have ever seen one go for is $4 - surely that is cheaper or the same price as renting???

Well, you not only need the enormous socket, you will also need a 1"-drive breaker bar to use it since that size socket doesn't come in 1/2"-drive. Friend of mind shelled out about $30-something between the socket and bar at Sears when we did his.
